I'm a big fan of the "Tell Them Theory"
Seriously, if your waiter was awesome, tell them. If your friend looks great, let her know. Did someone inspire you? Shoot them a message. Your colleague handled a tough situation like a pro? Tell them that. A small business really impressed you? Go leave them a review. You admire how consistent someone is? Speak up! Does your partner make you feel loved? Make sure they know. Someone's smile brightened your whole day? Tell them! Was someone's courage inspiring? Let them know it. A friend stuck by you through thick and thin? Remind them how much that meant.
Being kind is most powerful when you actually say it out loud. Be that person who makes someone feel a little more confident in themselves.
Isn't it crazy that we've been taught to see relationships and friendships coming to an end as a failure. Like if someone isn't in your life anymore, something must have gone wrong. I think people come into your life for a season, a reason or a lifetime. You just outgrow each other, sometimes it's like nothing bad happened. We just aren't aligned in the same way anymore and I think that is so okay. That person changed you, opened something in you, reflected something back to you that you needed to see. And now you're different because of it. Is that a failure, that is a woven part of the tapestry of your life and honestly I would rather have loved and been changed by it then never have experienced it at all.
Before September slips away, soften your heart to the possibility that life is quietly arranging something beautiful for you. Stay open. Stay hopeful. Something good may already be finding its way to you. You are deeply, endlessly abundant.
FLIRT. FOR FUUUUCK SAKES. DANCE WITH LIFE. LET THE UNIVERSE SEDUCE YOU WITH WONDER AND CURIOSITY. PLEAAASE. YOU'LL NEVER BE THIS AGAIN. YOU'RE A ONE TIME THING. ENJOY IT.
A practice I started adopting about a year ago is saying peoples’ names joyfully when they walk into the room
I enjoy seeing people’s reactions to being delighted in just for existing & seeing them relax
Maybe your journey right now isn’t about love. Maybe it’s about you. To feel safe again, to feel peace again, to feel calm again, and to remember who you are again. Maybe you were led to this moment to heal, and to be kinder to yourself. To understand what's a good fit for you and your future, and to give yourself the kind of love that you've always given to others.
I hope I never become too busy to notice the small evidence that life is going right. A good conversation. A safe journey home. A meal you enjoyed. A laugh you didn't plan. Those moments count too.
