ON THIS DAY IN 2021...

The remnants of Hurricane Ida devastated much of our region, particularly the Philadelphia and New York City Metros, that saw unprecendented extreme weather, including extreme urban flooding across much of Philadelphia and New York proper.

In addition to the flooding, a severe tornado outbreak occurred across Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey, producing several strong tornadoes, including an EF3 in Mullica Hill, NJ, that flattened parts of neighborhoods and developments in the area. That same supercell would go on to trigger the first Tornado Emergency in the Northeastern United States EVER RECORDED.

Overall, it was a day to remember throughout our coverage region, and with an uptick in more severe weather events in our area, we'll be sure to keep you updated on any potential disruptions that may impact your day.
