@sandrapertek Thanks Sandra! So good to have had you there. You certainly added to the diversity in the room and the practice-based orientation of the discussions :)
Great to attend project dldl's conference on domestic abuse, religion & migration. There is a huge need to integrate faith sensitivity into the UK's VAWG sector @_decolonise
Well done, Romina Istratii, for bringing practitioners and academia together to initiate this conversation
Especially pertinent, on this International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict, to speak at @SOAS@LondonU on domestic violence and faith, at the invitation of Dr Romina Istratii. Pleased to meet with our sister and brothers forming the Ethiopian Orthodox delegation who travelled especially to attend.
“Religious institutions and leaders have both the privilege and responsibility of legitimacy and influence within their communities, which they must use to protect and empower the most vulnerable.”
On 3 June, Project dldl/ድልድል will hold a screening in Cambridge of docudrama ‘Tidar (Marriage),’ co-produced in Ethiopia and the UK to raise awareness about the role of religious beliefs and faith in domestic violence experiences.
