Fell down a FBref rabbit hole and stumbled into some passing stats and compared them to other top creators that will make you appreciate Kevin De Bruyne even more.
My first ever 🧵 enjoy 🫡
There are a lot of things wrong with sports/stadiums in this country, but I wish more Europeans could experience college football.
Tiger Stadium at night might not be Anfield or the Bernabéu, but it’s easily the best we’ve got.
Of course nothing will ever top the Anfield experience for a Liverpool fan….. but Raymond Jones Stadium in Tampa might just be the greatest stadium I’ve been to…an old fashioned, imposing cathedral of sport, complete with pirate ship!

Maybe a proper Enzo Maresca interview this (watched his tactical deep-dives a fair bit) but here he’s talking about his time at City:
1. How he took the U23s/EDS and won them their first-ever Premier League 2 title.
2. What he actually pinched from Pep Guardiola.
Also touches on walking into a broken Leicester City side, steadying the ship, and dragging them straight back up as Championship winners.
One thing I’ve clocked with him: give him proper backing and he’ll build something genuinely nasty.
Not trying to big him up for the sake of it, his record actually backs the chat.
Don’t fault a guy for wanting a change of scene after spending over half a decade in a foreign country, set loads of records, won a treble, best friend left, and his legendary coach just retired.
Manchester City defender Ruben Dias has reportedly instructed his representative to source a transfer away from the Etihad Stadium this summer, following the departure of Pep Guardiola 🤯🧐

@rodriiola I don’t think that was always the plan though and don’t want to comment on the personal stuff.
He absolutely didn’t intend to stay 10 years, but every time it seemed like he would leave, he’d sign an extension.
Think it’ll take years before we learn the full story.
After Sam Lee reported that until last season’s collapse, Pep wanted 10 PL titles, it’s hard not to see things like this and realize that the transfer strategy post treble really neutered a third fully rebuilt City dynasty side.
@joellikesthis You’re right. However, Pep also made it seem like he wanted more changes to be made, especially when they were in free fall during 24/25. I’m not an anti-Txiki guy either. I don’t know who’s at fault for the transfer strategy.
Sagna was playing for the Montreal impact the summer after this season and people look at you dead in the face and say Guardiola inherited a title winning team.
📲 FotMob Flashback: On the day he announced his departure, here’s a reminder of Pep Guardiola’s first game in charge of the club.
A 2-1 win over Sunderland that starred Fernandinho.
@kimowrt City had good players, but the team was not playing well, they had 66 points the year before he arrived.
He brought Stones in, and was mocked for the money spent. Is he a checkbook manager? Or does he elevate players?
Guess we’ll see if City win another 6 titles by 2036.
Pep is the reason for the greatest ten-year run in Manchester City history, and probably the best decade of any club in English football.
The greater footballing world was skeptical when he took over, and he made everyone who ever doubted him look foolish.
Thank you, Pep 🩵
@PitchsidePub That’s a fair point. There’s absolutely a chance that hurts his confidence, but he’ll likely be getting consistent play time at the start of next season due to his freshness and think that will be more important in the long run
Honestly, I think this is best for Foden and City next season.
Let him clear his head, avoid the toxicity that comes with England playing in tournaments, and be one of the few fresh players next season.
🚨 Kobbie Mainoo set to be named in England squad for World Cup but Phil Foden misses out. Tino Livramento + Noni Madueke also expected to be included but no Levi Colwill despite injury return & anticipated Luke Shaw will not make #ENG group @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/xXJtFuqlOH
