@CheriDiNovo Oh my, I was not impressed by the previous federal government "handcuffing" Alberta development. I'm on the east coast but most of our working age people had fly jobs to Alberta. PM Carney opened things up and its a 180. Just needs to be written into legislation.

@USAmbCanada Dear Ambassador, I volunteered in Halifax with the Red Cross, as there were messages on the radio for employers let their employees volunteer. There were so many volunteers there wasn't much to do. Canadians don't wait to be asked, we show up.

It doesn't look like change. I am still hopeful which is difficult when I'm following all of the Brookfield entanglements, and the flip/flop of opinions of our new PM. He said he would work for all Canadians so ignoring 40% of voters would not be doing that. Announcements of change and getting investments need to happen immediately. That means changes to legislation and incentives to make Canada Attractive to investors. The rest of the world has been signing deals while 4 months were wasted and the auto and metal tariffs became permanent. Then learning that PM told Pres Trump he was using anti-Trump as an election tactic, and now failing to tell Canadians the Auto and metal tariffs are permanent is not a good sign.

I agree, but the threat of tariffs was known and despite a trip to Europe we aren't hearing of any deals. The focus was on pushing off an election, and we missed out on removing the Tariffs by not dealing with it before it was solidified and Trillions of investment were made in the US based on the Tariffs.

That's what I'm hearing from business owners and professionals. Some were already looking, and even interviewing for jobs elsewhere. Censorship and the future for their children. My friend in Ontario said business owners he knows will raise prices or leave.

None of this helps the average Canadian. By professionals I mean Physicians. Some left, some are working in the US, and some have already interviewed. I've got a small circle but it's the norm, not the exception.

High taxes were accepted when we had adequate services and affordability. 250B more in spending isn't the answer. Hopefully today's meeting with Pres Trump has shown he won't budge if at all on the Tariffs, too little too late. 4 months of leadership race and election, Trump won't turn on the 7T in investment based on the Tariffs while our Parliament has been idle for 9 months. All we have is elbows up and no Jack Daniels.

Very Graceful, thank you and your team. Clearly we aren't there yet. I want my community to be safe, healthy, properly fed, with access to medicine and affordable homes, food, and commodities. For everyone. That shouldn't even be an issue.

We need business investment full stop. Perhaps this meeting today with Mr. Trump will show our new PM how important it will be to work the official opposition, the party that supplied all the talking points Mr. Carney suddenly used today. However too little too late. Trump had over 7 Trillion in foreign investment in his first 60 days. That was based on the Tariffs, and because of those investments Trump will not move much on Tariffs. If our previous government hadn't openly disparaged the American President and their voter choices, and dealt with the border immediately, maybe that would be different.

We are still Canadians, we still respect others, help others, but are so divided because of unbalanced media and unintentionally? internet algorithms. The algorithms need to change for politics, everyone should see every post from every side on the Internet. This is the only way to repair the divide, which is fictitious. People are using different sets of "information". Plus a cable news station that shares all sides without attacking anyone. History, context, and facts. Let the viewer decide the meaning. No spin.

We have a PM, I hope he will act as he says for all Canadians, and unite us. Apparently he doesn't oppose conservative policies completely because it sounded like @PierrePoilievre speaking about the border and military.

So there is zero sign the US will make any significant change on tariffs, it depends on what sectors the investment is in, but Pres Trump has already said elsewhere the tariffs are needed to protect the businesses that invested.

I want my community to be healthy in all respects, and food cupboards, pallet homes, and hand to mouth with minimal access to primary healthcare, and the highest rate of sepsis deaths in Canada because people avoid the ER for obvious reasons, until it is too late. People losing their rent cap with health issues getting MAID not because they want to die, but because they don't want to die on the street. I'm not an absolutist, but a man choosing to die because he was MADE poor due to inflation is unacceptable.
