A guy named Jonah accidentally built the most useful website on the internet.

It's called Privacy Guides.

This is the website Google would rather you not find, Meta actively lobbies against, data brokers have tried to discredit for years, and the entire advertising industry treats as a direct threat to their business model.

It has been online since 2019. It takes no affiliate money. It runs no ads. Journalists cite it. Security researchers trust it.

Here's how it works.

Privacy Guides is a curated recommendation list. The site itself sells nothing.

It just tells you which private tool actually replaces every surveillance product in your life, tested by security researchers and updated every month, organized into 40+ categories with the exact reason each pick was chosen.

→ Browsers that block trackers and ads by default
→ Email providers that cannot read your messages
→ Search engines that do not build a profile on you
→ Password managers you can self-host
→ VPNs that accept cash and Monero and log nothing

The site is run by a non-profit called MAGIC Grants. Every recommendation goes through a public forum review, a GitHub pull request, and criteria published on the site so anyone can audit why a tool was chosen. No company can pay to be listed. No affiliate link exists on the entire domain.

Google can't shut this down. Meta can't shut this down. Amazon can't shut this down.

The entire $600 billion surveillance advertising industry is built on the assumption that you would never spend one afternoon on this website.

We're opposed to it regardless of whether it comes from left, center or right. The flood of people lying about what we believe and have said won't change this.

Our beliefs are not defined by what people who use GrapheneOS or donate to it believe. We decide what's acceptable within our community and we do a lot of moderation. We don't police what's done fully outside it. We clearly won't only have users, donors and supporters with beliefs aligned with ours.

We don't usually allow much political discussion in our community unless it's directly related to GrapheneOS. Today has been a very good demonstration of why that's the case. Many people are unable to tolerate even a minor disagreement on semantics without being absolutely enraged over it.

🇧🇷 A Brazilian judge just sentenced two parents to prison for homeschooling their daughters.

Their crime, according to the court: "intellectual neglect" and not teaching state-approved "gender and sex education."

The girls are 15 and 11. They speak multiple languages and are both accomplished pianists.

An independent psychologist found zero signs of neglect. The prosecutor recommended acquittal.

The judge convicted them anyway. 50 days behind bars.

It's the first time in Brazilian history parents have been criminally prosecuted for homeschooling.

The mother's response: "I cannot conceive a more dictatorial state than the one that wants me in jail because I chose to exercise my right to direct the education and upbringing of my daughters."

Their case is now headed to appeal.

A threat actor claims to be selling a 2.5TB Serasa database allegedly containing data on 250M+ Brazilians.

Alleged exposed data includes:

• CPF numbers
• Full names
• Dates of birth
• Mother’s names
• Emails
• Phone records
• Addresses
• Credit and income-related datasets
• LGPD opt-out / marketing fields

Google shipped an out-of-band update to droidguard breaking using RCS with sandboxed Google Play. We've already fixed it and it will be included in the OS release we're making later today (2026062300). That will likely be our first Android 17 to reach our Stable channel.

Update: the App Review Board has confirmed that my Apple Developer account will not be terminated. Sparrow on macOS is safe.

Following the appeal, the App Review Board has confirmed that @craigraw's Apple Developer account will not be terminated. Sparrow on macOS is safe.

Apple is about to kill Sparrow Wallet on macOS. The deadline is June 30.

Since 2023, more than a dozen fake "Sparrow" apps have appeared on Apple's App Store. Users have lost their savings, in some cases their life savings, to these impersonators. Craig Raw, Sparrow's developer, holds the registered US trademarks for both the name and logo. He's been publicly warning Apple about the scam apps since early 2024. They keep showing up.

Craig created a placeholder app, never published, to warn users that Sparrow is desktop-only and the App Store copycats aren't real. Apple's response? They flagged his developer account for "dishonest activity" and scheduled it for termination.

The developer fighting scammers got flagged. The scammers who stole life savings kept operating on Apple's platform.

If Apple follows through, every new Sparrow install on macOS fails after June 30. macOS development ends entirely.

This matters because Sparrow is the best desktop Bitcoin wallet available, full stop. Multisig. Coin control. Hardware wallet integration. Tor support. UTXO management that most wallets don't even attempt. Free. Open source. Built by one developer who cares more about his users than his revenue.

And one automated decision by a trillion-dollar company could end it on an entire operating system.

This is why platform gatekeeping is a systemic risk for freedom tech. If your tools need a gatekeeper's blessing to exist, they aren't freedom tools. We have to build on open platforms.

Our community is helping us test the initial release of GrapheneOS based on Android 17. It's working very well for most people with very few issues. We've resolved the main regressions reported to us already. We'll start builds for a 2nd public release based on 17 later today after a few more fixes.

The most serious issue we fixed is an upstream memory corruption bug in the Broadcom Wi-Fi driver memory corruption bug for the Pixel 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL and 10 Pro Fold. The invalid memory access is caught by our use of hardware memory tagging which causes a kernel panic instead of allowing it.

We already fixed this Broadcom Wi-Fi bcm4383 memory corruption bug in our 2026050900 release for the Pixel 8a, 9a and 10a. Pixel 6 through 9a share the same kernel source tree which the 10a is based on. Android 17 added the new code with this bug for real 10th gen Pixels which we missed initially.

Android 17 added a unified PIN interface to SystemUI for use outside of the lockscreen. Our PIN scrambling feature now works beyond the lockscreen too. We increase the DevicePolicyManager PIN and password length to 128 but Android's new PIN entry had it hard-wired to 16 which we've resolved now.

We add a feature making system quick tiles require unlocking by default and exclude tiles where it isn't needed which accidentally caused the new flashlight quick tile to require unlocking which is now fixed. Those are the main issues found so far other than minor UI quirks we're working on fixing.
