@violetbfox Yes! I love when I encounter this text on other listservs. I would 100% read a longform oral history of whoever wrote this and how it somehow ENDURES on most listservs.
A cautionary tale: I accidentally retweeted a real stupid Nate Silver tweet after dropping tahini on my phone and trying to wipe it off! Don't be like me!
@ASnilloc@MusicaAnne@theheatherhogan If you found someone's wallet on the ground, would you let them know they dropped it?
...could you parse that sentence? Yes? Then using singular "they" is not that confusing.
@hels I learned to cook from Deb but what even is Half-Baked Harvest? I feel like this is the recipe blog equivalent of watching Succession and then finding out 10.7 million people are watching Yellowstone.
@deftlyinane Did you finally make it to all 100, or are some still waiting? Does this mean that the last county with no factoids is officially the least interesting county?
Anyone have any recommendations for food to eat in Boston? Especially bakeries, bread, and pastries, or really anything else delicious. @wordloaf any suggestions?
@eddy_sarah I just got an appeal in the mail today (I'm sure it got mail-merged and sent out before all this, but still) and it went immediately into the recycling can. It's a Great Day To Be ... a person that doesn't give them any of my money.
I didn't leave the house today (as usual) but small victories of lockdown abound: the presumed-dead sourdough starter passed its float test, 5th place (among the beginners!) in the fall crossword tournament, and the first tiny snow flurries of the season. Tomorrow is... December?
@PoseySessions Yes! They're the best kinds of archivists (sorry, other archivists). The folks at @SFolklife, @SmithsonianFolk, and the American Folklife Center @LOC (among many many) are all great people.
"The push for fabric masks is being fueled by an army of female and non-binary sewists. Much of this labor is unrecognized; almost all of it is unpaid. The overall narrative involves... housebound hobbyists getting their sewing fix with the side perk of saving the world"
@mcmansionhell Quilt history: Why We Quilt by Thomas Knauer (for modern/ contemporary quiltmaking), Roderick Kiracofe's 'The American Quilt' (earlier quilts) & his 'Unconventional and Unexpected' for awesome wonky visual inspiration are all good
