That crushing wave of ADHD shame when you realize mid-conversation that you’ve been talking too fast, interrupting, or sharing way too much detail.
You catch a slight shift in their expression, and your heart instantly sinks.
You immediately quiet down, pull back, and spend the rest of the day replaying the conversation in your head, wishing you could just be normal. 🧵
the worst thing i've ever done as a neurodivergent person is be excited about something and have someone make me feel stupid for it. so now i don't tell people things. Ill get a new job, finish a book, hit a goal, and tell nobody. because once you've had your excitement embarrassed out of you, you stop offering it up.

Research librarian here: the process for weeding items from the collection is actually pretty thorough. We check the usage statistics of the book, and if it is not being used or does not fit the collection then we will find another fit for it via some form of donation. It is very rare that we actually destroy a book, usually only if it is in irreparable condition and is not particularly rare. We have a lot of tools for rebinding and repair too. Preservation is exceedingly important.
