You can roughly divide knowledge into "how things work" and "what happened".
"How things work" is a condensed version of "what happened". Less stores, more patterns.
I find it helpful to alternate between the two so one doesn't get bored.
Don't rely on second-hand information to make judgement. Always think from first principles when you can.
You might have fewer ideas, but each of them is more sound and stable than what other people tell you.
