So I have been writing a book ... And today is the first day that you can buy it 🎉

@splatpanic65@WorkElizab The car finance was already in negative equity. Paying it off would put this person in a better position than they were before the accident - not comparable.
This is why gap insurance exists.
Sadly many such cases since the FCA stopped finance companies bundling gap insurance..
@Blackfingers63@RealPostFolder In the UK a grill is the thing above the oven where you make cheese on toast!
We call the thing for burning sausages in the garden a barbecue.
@lauriewired SDF is awesome, I learnt UNIX, the terminal and built my first website in vi on SDF in the late 90s in my school computer lab on SDF.
I even remember the dark days when *shudder* they ran Linux 😅
@xeode @cdslash @MichaelAArouet If the person earning £140k wanted housing or children they would have to pay for those things out of pocket so this is a fair and reasonable comparison.
@TheNorfolkLion If you do this in Spain they will think that you must know them… Then they are scratching their head for the rest of the day trying to work out where they know you from.
@brankopetric00 DNS is like that, I switched a record to point at a new ALB once, then came back to check on (and clean up) the old one a few weeks later and the traffic was still not insignificant.
@ankhtweets@NickBuckleyMBE “Do not spit” signs were common in the UK until the 1970s, they were installed as a public health thing to combat TB. TB had been massively reduced by the 50s and so the signs gradually went out of use…
@VE5REV Looks really neat! I bet it’s hard work crimping those connectors onto solid copper.
I have an idea to do something like this with PCB and through-hole Anderson connectors.
@DavidHofmann_77@watergypsi The longest boats are 72ft, but most boats are a little less than 57ft as that allows you to use nearly all of the canal network.
Most boats have a second alternator on the main propulsion engine, and a bank of deep cycle batteries for domestic use. You can buy diesel on the cut
@thebookishtoad@LeilaniDowding When the coins we currently have were introduced in 1971, a pound would buy 7-8 pints of beer down the pub. Now it’s getting harder to buy a pint with £5.
coins are less valuable, because they are worth less. Go into a sweet shop and try to buy something for less than a pound?
@louispilfold My bank shows me a word as part of the login process, but it doesn’t really make a big deal out of it, if it wasn’t there I am not sure I would miss it until it was too late.
We need a 2 way 2FA process, where the website sends you something you need to sign with a private key.
