It's been a long while since I've made a new game, so I'm going to try an experiment: I'm going to challenge myself to post something on here every day about a game I'm working on. I have no idea if this will go anywhere, but let's see what happens!
Already posted on Mastodon:
I've released a preview version of my new SFX builder, Noise Maker, in time for #ldjam!

So, posting every day was clearly a bit overambitious. Turns out it was hard enough to find time to get any development in every day, and even harder to accomplish some thing worth writing about. Think I'll aim for a short thread every week, instead.
They do need more testing, and I still haven't tried using them for FLIP-style animations, but they should just work, at least in theory. Once I've done that, I'll probably polish them up and release an alpha on Github.
The game in question is a still-untitled dungeon crawler. It's pretty early on, even though I started an embarrassingly long time ago. All I've got so far is menuing for half a combat engine, with placeholder graphics.
Didn't have time to work on this today, so instead, a on bit the combat:
Inspired in part by Into the Breach, I'm planning to explore how perfect information about enemy attacks can be used to make defense a more compelling aspect of RPG combat.

My free sound effects tool now runs in HTML5, not Flash, and there's a new Windows downloadable version available too. So @itchio is the perfect place to host it from now on!

One of the most popular misconceptions about black history is that over time, America has gradually become less racist and more tolerant.
That is not true.
Since y'all want a BHM thread, here's a thread about the evolution of racism in America.
You realize police forces around the country have just been holding up cities for protection money for decades, right?
And you realize their monopoly over funds has destroyed social services that would've helped curb crime without them and saved lives and property anyway, right?
Something I've learned while in law school is about the social construction of crime. I work in a legal clinic on wage theft cases, where employers have "improperly paid" workers by not paying, paying below min wage, withholding overtime, paid sick time, etc. 1/
