Our Actions often Have grievous consequences...
These consequences often happen to others, they are known as "Unintended Perverse consequences"
Here's how it works, and how you can avoid it
A thread ...
Interestingly, one of the worst things about the Nigerian character - bloviating, buffoonish overconfidence - is also a superpower that sets Nigerians apart when it is intentionally harnessed and channelled correctly.
Whenever Nigerians (born and raised in Nigeria) learn how to combine their social confidence with actual intellectual substance and a good amount of self awareness, the world will have a serious problem on its hands.
I believe in my people🙏🏿
Maybe, just maybe, at the highest levels of competition where even the tiniest differences in mentality can result in vast competitive differences, *maybe* having a national team made up of people who instinctively think of themselves as people from that nation would provide a slight competitive advantage over talented Congolese, Ivorian and Senegalese teams where half of the players think they're from France, and another third think they're from Belgium.
Maybe the fact that Harry Kane has no such identity crisis or colonial complex inside his head gives him that extra 0.1% of mental clarity to deliver when his country needs him. Maybe the fact that Yoan Wissa on the other hand has a head full of all this mental clutter contributes just a tiny little bit to dulling his output right when it needs to be sharpest.
Maybe football is a reflection of society, and a national football team reflects the character of the nation it represents. Maybe it is not possible for a society that genuinely takes no pride in itself to have a football team that takes pride in itself. Maybe it's no coincidence that in the entire history of the world cup, the competition has only been won by teams whose coach is indigenous.
Maybe the world cup is not about how individually great your Bayern Munich and Liverpool superstars are. Maybe it's about finding out whether those Villareal and Olympique Lyon stars can emotionally connect with the aspirations of the national team shirt they're wearing. Maybe neocolonial stalemate societies with zero state ambition and no shared sense of national project are never going to be anything other than colourful also-rans at the FIFA world cup.
Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about and I'm just a dickhead who overthinks everything. Maybe I shouldn't even bother posting this because what fucking needle does it move anyway.
Paradoxically, a man who is not willing to be ugly is not a man who is able to be beautiful, because a man who will not dirty his hands, bear his teeth, injure, maim and impose ferocity where it is rightful, is no man at all.
To reject the warrior within man is to be deeply un-man, which is why pacifism is mere cowardice masquerading as virtue. Those who say violence is never the answer are profound liars, and engage in different forms of it through less obvious means.
Violence is not always the answer, and it should not be the reflexive answer, but it should be the final and decisive answer when all other avenues fail. For you to remain pristine and untouched, someone else must be willing to do what you will not so you can launder your cowardice as moral superiority. Do you really think yourself better than them? You are not.
I posted on WhatsApp looking for young boys aged 19 to 22. I trained them, and in less than a year they became Graphics, Web, and Cloud engineers.
A few weeks ago, I trained an elderly person while watching Masoyinbo by @LekanFabilola how to easily use ai to create websites and Web apps and we both ended up creating a Yoruba Calculator as an example https://t.co/1uJ10D1RUQ as I noticed she was struggling with the numbers the presenter was saying. I have made it open source so people can add more features https://t.co/l8PTGuOOfK like voice pronunciation for example.
My point is, Nigerians learn very fast even with a shaky foundation or no knowledge at all.
They are willing to learn.
You express different sides of yourself around different people in line with your estimation of their capacities.
For example, around a child or someone you view as vulnerable or special, you are likely more caring, patient and instructive. Does this mean when you're around someone you see as a peer and you're goofing around and acting more childish, that you cease to possess all those other virtues? Do you suddenly lose the ability to be adult and responsible? No. It is just that the peer does not primarily elicit the caregiving side of you in the way the dependant or the beloved does.
The peer's presence allows you to be more free with yourself, to be a bit crazier, a bit freer, a bit more juvenile, you are likely closer in ability and your mode of relating is different. Your comfort levels and what you relate over vary from person to person.
If you are a very versatile person, you can relate to people who wouldn't naturally relate to each other, but who both relate to you.
For example, you could have a relationship which is very adversarial in nature where each person refines the other's arguments, spurs each other on, strategises together etc, and then another one that is more contemplative, lower tempo, less violently rivalrous and more gentle. If each of these people saw how you engaged with the other, they would think "you're a different person" but really they are just seeing a side of you they don't really elicit in you that the other does.
For you to be authentic in the presence of both then is not to be confused over what to express or necessarily choose "what mask to put on", but to actually be in an awkward situation where whichever part of yourself is expressed is shocking or even unpleasant to the one who doesn't usually see it.
I guess the point I am really trying to make is this: you are not actually a singular style or mode of expression. You are multifaceted. The aspect of yourself you most commonly express will differ from person to person, but they're all you. It's just that most people don't know you in all your varied aspects. They only know the side of you that they bring out in you, and perhaps they only bring 1 or maybe 2 sides out of you, as opposed to the full spectrum of behaviour you're capable of.
The true lover of course, is the one who can elicit and witness your every variation, and accept them all because they're all expressions of you.
Some parts of yourself are so beautiful, they are unbeknownst even to you, and will only express themselves around someone very special to you.
But most people's relationships are not deep and developed enough to make space for multiple versions and variations of you that are all reconciled into a greater you that are all recognised as you. Most people will put you into a box, and then act outraged when you behave outside of that box.
So to break through the forth wall for a second, you as an audience will all have me in the "somewhat clever guy who speaks wisdom" box.
If I do anything but that, it is jarring to you because that's my function in your world. If I cease to perform my function, that would be annoying for you. The more obnoxiously entitled amongst you would even say "you need to stop doing X, and get back to doing Y" or essentially some version of "stay in your lane" - aka: be what I expect of you and value you for, or I will reject you. I am not actually a person to you, because you don't actually know me as a soul. Part of this is by design, part of it is contextual, and part of this is due to the limitations of your perception.
Now, extrapolate the example I just gave to life in general and all the people you know, and you will see this is the same phenomenon repeating ad infinitum. Hopefully, I am making sense.
People thought this was a joke.
It is not.
Finding a life partner gets harder the older you get. Not because good people disappear. But because two things happen to you quietly as you age.
First, you grow comfortable with being alone.
Second, you become harder to impress and harder to read.
There is a window when you are young and impressionable. You feel things deeply and you do not yet have the vocabulary to rationalize those feelings away. The person you meet in that window is also in that window. Two impressionable people falling in love is how love actually works. You are both still soft enough to take the shape of each other.
Impressionability is directly proportional to the frequency falling in love
But That window slowly closes with age.
A 45-year-old man trying to fall in love is not the same creature as a 22-year-old man trying to fall in love. By 45, he understands love as an emotion. He can name it, manage it, and keep it at arm's length. That is not wisdom working in his favour. That is armour working against him.
The will to life as Schopenhauer called it, the same will to procreate and have offspring and family is an enemy of reason.
The wiser an individual becomes, the harder it is for them to settle down.
And people grow wiser with age.
And it is the same for women.
Then life comes in.
Bills. Siblings to feed. Morning commutes. A career that demands everything. Nobody is paying your rent anymore. Nobody is covering your meals. You are now fully inside the real world, and the real world does not pause for romance. You come home tired. You wake up early. You have a list of responsibilities that existed before you even had a chance to want something for yourself.
There is no time.
The library years, school years, medical school years are the last years when your time is structurally yours. You have no mortgage. You have no dependants. You have frustrations, yes, but you also have evenings. You have a shared experience with people your age who are also figuring themselves out. You are surrounded by people becoming.
That environment produces love. Not perfectly. But it produces it.
So when I say go to the library and find a slim girl with a big forehead yes, it is funny. But it is also true. A studious girl who carries herself quietly in a library at twenty-two is going to grow into something formidable. The big forehead is not a joke either. It tends to settle beautifully into a woman's face over time. That is not objectification. That is just observation.
The deeper point is this.
Nobody chooses a spouse for you anymore. There is no arrangement, no family meeting, no deliberate process. You are on your own. Which means you have to be deliberate yourself or you will simply drift through your most fertile relational years focused entirely on academics and wake up at thirty-two wondering why everything feels harder.
It feels harder because it is harder.
Make the decision consciously while you are still in a place where the decision is available to you.
Medical school gives you six to nine years.
Use some of it.
I believe one of the best ways to improve your vocabulary beyond reading books is to watch movies. Not just any movies, but movies with depth, movies that care about language, movies that have something meaningful to say.
I cannot count the number of rich words and phrases I picked up while watching Black Bag. It felt as though every scene required me to pause, look up a word or phrase, then continue watching. I am currently watching Slow Horses and I have found myself exposed to an entirely different set of words, particularly British expressions and slang.
The trick, however, is that hearing a word once is rarely enough to incorporate it into your vocabulary. You have to actually use it. For example, I recently came across the phrase “hair of the dog,” which refers to drinking alcohol to cure a hangover. A friend mentioned having a hangover yesterday, so I deliberately worked the phrase into our conversation. Even writing about it now further reinforces it in my mind. I have found that vocabulary grows fastest when words move from passive recognition to active use. If you’re looking to expand your vocabulary, it is a habit worth cultivating.
Meet me at the Dar es Salaam premiere on Friday. I will be there in person. Walk up to me like a man and tell me this to my face.
And after you realise that you're an impotent nobody who barks at strangers on the internet, you'll go home and warm your ugali.
Dim morons who don't understand who is on their side and who is leading them to slaughter.
I watched and reflected on the sermon by Apostle Iren, deliberating on his words, the intent, the implication and the consequences and what I’d say is, all things are lawful, but not all are expedient, because somethings could be considered not malicious in intent but not just absolutely unnecessary but harmful and distracting, especially in the context of spirituality.
Yes, it is valid to speak about diligence, wealth, and the importance of a productive mindset. However, introducing tribal comparisons into that conversation was neither necessary nor even helpful to the message. It did not strengthen the message; instead, it distracted from it.
You can in a sermon praise a tribe for their diligence in a particular area in terms of business like he did to the Igbos in the way their simple dress while working doesn’t reflect their huge amount of wealth, that’s great and is something that should be sincerely emulated, but to draw a comparative inference of inferiority by saying “if you grew up in a tribe where you party every…..” (We all know the tribe) followed by the “did the bullet touch you?” was completely unnecessary, not just because such stereotypes are insensitive for a multi-tribal, multi-racial custodian of generations spiritually, but because it’s a fallacy to use the perceived “party culture” of one tribe to demonstrate an inferior finance building culture compared to another tribe when in fact the richest men in that “party culture” are by miles richer than the richest men in the Igbo culture (due respect to them🙏🏾).
And I would’ve waived it off completely but I’m saying this because I think it’s something he should note because this is not his first time talking about this, it happened the very first time I witnessed a sermon by Pastor Iren, I was at a CLASFON Student Annual Conference in 2023 at OAU when Pastor Iren ministered and also spoke about asking other tribes to go learn from the Igbos business wise, though he added an addendum that the Igbos too have things to learn from Yorubas such as how to treat women, so I know of a surety that he didn’t say it out of malice at heart. However, intent alone does not eliminate the need for care in expression.
A tribe can be praised for something IN ISOLATION, but once you start making comparative inferences of inferiority between tribes, you immediately start diluting and distracting from the message.
Such statements dilute the core messages in sermons and distracts the congregation, not just because they are wrong to make but because everyone is moved by inevitable sentiment, biases and the likes which would distract them from getting the core message by making such statements.
A woman who truly knows how to love will obsess over how you feel, whilst a woman who doesn't, will obsess over how she feels to the point your feelings are irrelevant to her.
Such a woman will seem emotionally unintelligent in her lack of empathy for you, because you are a tool to her, rather than a soul to her, and thus rather than humanise you as a man, she instrumentalises you.
The selfish woman thus centres her pain where the true lover centres yours, because a woman who truly loves you tries to see you and serve you, she doesn't just obsess over how you fail to see her, and demand you see and serve better.
This does not mean everything must be primarily about you, but it does mean it is actually about you some of the time, and not solely about her and her needs all the time.
This is why if she's always got you having conversations about what you did wrong and how you made her feel, if say she's always holding you emotionally accountable for some perceived or manufactured slight, whilst never showing any type of remorse or awareness for how she may have hurt you - if the the empathy is always focused on her but never focused on you, and if she would never do *for you* what she demands *from you* - she isn't actually able to love you, because her character is too rotten to do so.
This dynamic may be normal to you, and you may think this is how women are in general, that they demand they are always centred without ever centring you, but I assure you, this aberrant but otherwise normalised lack of mutuality is deeply wrong.
There are better, sweeter and more appreciative women who are more deserving and will treat you better, and it is down to you as a man to ensure only they get your commitment, not the self-indulgent, ungrateful and unempathetic forever complainer.
@CDcareNG Just because you have my address does not give you the right to show up at my house unannounced or involve my landlord, the cleaner and my neighbour.
This is unprofessional, invasive, and completely unacceptable.
I’ve been a consistent customer of CDcare since 2023 and over 20 purchases and I have never defaulted, and this experience is honestly disappointing.
In December 2025, I got a laptop on a 3-month installment plan. Final payment was February 27 2026. On March 13 I had a conversation with two cdcare agents, I offered to pay with interest month end OR let them collect the laptop till whenever I have the balance. They never responded to either offer. CHECK IMAGE 1.
I was not unreachable. I have WhatsApp messages from TWO different CDcare numbers contacting me. I responded to both. I was actively communicating the entire time.
My call log shows I answered CDcare's calls on March 14, March 18, and March 21.
March 27 they messaged me. I said "allow the salary to drop, I nor like to owe, because sometimes salaries get delayed. They said "Ok." ONE day later, literally the next day without any formal demand by email or calls or text (which their OWN Terms Clause 10(vii) requires), they sent someone to my house. CHECK SLIDE 3.
Their agent came, didn't text or call me prior, and went straight to my LANDLORD and disclosed my debt situation. My landlord was shocked. I now have to explain to the person who controls my housing why a debt collection agent showed up at his property because of me.
But here's where it gets worse. When I called my landlord, he told me CDcare's agent said they had called me several times with no answer, and texted me with no response. THAT IS A LIE. My screenshots prove we were in active communication the entire time. Not only does my landlord know, my neighbour knows and the cleaner who doesn't even live there knows my business.
They didn't just show up unannounced. They fabricated a story to my landlord to make me look like I was hiding from them. That is deliberate defamation. To the person who controls my home. Over a payment I was actively communicating about.
Their OWN Terms Clause 10(vii) require email or phone demand before any physical visit. Their Privacy Policy says data can only be shared with affiliates or under court order. My landlord is neither. They violated their own policies AND lied to cover it up.
This is 3+ years with CDcare, multiple products failed within 6 months. Multiple Earbuds, a fan, a yam pounder, an influencer light. I never showed up at their office to cause a scene. I just moved on. Because I'm a reasonable customer.
I am filing a formal complaint with @fccpcnigeria under the FCCPA 2018 and @NITDANigeria under the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation 2019.
I'm not against CDcare as a business, I mean get your money. But showing up without notice, disclosing my data and lying to my landlord about me to justify an unauthorized visit has put my housing at risk was uncalled for.
Good news for Iran, which has won the war and effectively ended the US empire as we know it.
But possibly bad news for Nigeria and Cuba because the empire is not quite dead yet, and it will want to repair its trashed ego by flexing on the countries within its reach that have some things it wants and cannot fight back as usual.
"Nigerian Christian Genocide" may be about to make a generational comeback across western media over the coming few days and weeks.
The owners of this app deliberately and drastically limited the reach of my posts. I started getting what I normally have in likes as views - posts that would usually get me 300 likes were struggling to even reach 400 views. This happened after I made multiple comments and quotes within a few minutes on Fabrizio’s post about the AFCON winners being “announced.” They flagged my account.
Long story short, I took a 3-day break from all activity. This post is a test to see if my views are back to normal or if I’m still in the shadows.
I sincerely appreciate everyone who reached out and tagged me to check in while I was away. I’m absolutely fine - I just didn’t come online. It’s a good thing y’all know it’s unusual for me not to post for days. Thank you very much.
So if you can see this test post, please engage to help spread it wider - maybe it will trigger my views back. Thank you.
Today is your brother’s birthday.
Blessed be the Lord my God whose riches in grace have granted His servant another year to my years. I remain deeply grateful for His strength, mercy, and unfailing grace which He has so generously supplied as I labor in His vineyard.
Every year is a testimony of His faithfulness and a reminder that the work continues. Here’s to another year of lifting high the name of Jesus and serving His purpose in my generation.
Happy birthday to me.
I never believed when people said “Nigeria will eventually happen to you”… until now.
I passed my Nursing Council exams in May 2025, but my name was mistakenly written as “Ibrahima” instead of Ibrahim on the portal.
Since then, I have paid for correction of name and followed up for months through my school, and our school focal person has contacted the council ICT team multiple times yet, the issue is still unresolved.
Now with the new NMCN portal, the problem has even worsened:
- My portal shows I did Public Health Nursing (which I didn’t).
- My exam number was altered.
- My name is still incorrect.
Because of this, I cannot obtain my practicing license, and I was fired from my workplace. I have lost several job opportunities after attending interviews with NGOs like Action Against Hunger, Médecins Sans Frontières (@MSF), and the International Rescue Committee(@RESCUEorg)
I also plan to further my education, but this license issue has completely fcked up my progress.
Please retweet and comment until this reaches the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria so this issue can finally be resolved. 🙏
A simple correction of my name is all I have been asking for since May 2025
The second to the last game played a lucky draw, and the last game played the following day. I won 683k and I was speechless, extremely happy and had a bit of regret that I took the cash out, as it would have been 1.2 million naira.
Keep it up @isthaths
My convocation was coming up, I had just lost sponsor, and I had no hope for the celebration. Just three days to the Celebration, I had 1k left with me,I put 150 each on @isthaths game, just 3 codes. The cash out rose to 60k with two games left, I took half, and ended up...
