Access to independent learning remains a barrier for visually impaired learners in Kenya.
Today, that gap is narrowing. In partnership with Google, Thika School for the Blind received 125 Chromebooks for learners and 24 laptops for teachers, embedding the technology that enables independent study, research, and collaboration.

For learners, the Chromebooks provide access to screen readers and assistive technologies that support reading, research, collaboration and independent learning. They ensure a seamless transition from junior to senior school, so students build on skills instead of starting over. Those capabilities carry into university, into work, and into lives learners direct themselves.

For teachers, the laptops strengthen lesson preparation, instruction and access to digital teaching resources.

"This support creates a more level playing field for our learners," said Principal Grace Kiarie. "It gives them equitable access to quality education and the opportunities that follow."
As we continue to advance digital inclusion in Kenya's education system, partnerships like this remind us that access to the right tools changes everything.

It's a wrap!

Three days of sharing knowledge. I’m proud to be an international digital trade trainer, and it was an honour to facilitate this Training of Trainers (ToT), sharing practical knowledge on marketing, communication, branding, AI, and digital trade to strengthen MSMEs across the IGAD region.

The greatest reward isn't just what happens in the training room, it's knowing that every trainer in this cohort will go back home and empower women and youth-led MSMEs with the skills to embrace gender-sensitive digital trade and financial inclusion.

This is how lasting impact is created: by equipping those who will train others.
A special thank you to @IGADgender, @IGADsecretariat, @xubbifarah, and @JiijoHussein for the incredible collaboration. It was a privilege co-facilitating alongside such an amazing team.
