Promoted by Leo Littman for Brighton & Hove Green Party, both at 39-41 Surrey St, Brighton, BN1 3PB
I'm really excited to be working with Marina – elected just a week ago and she's already getting stuck in. Queen's Park is so lucky to have her as their Green representative! 💚
Exactly a week ago today, Greens won the Queen’s Park by-election, and I officially started working as a councillor.
We won with a decisive 48.4% of the vote and a huge swing from Labour to Green.
But it wasn’t just a victory for Greens.
Some reflections… 🧵
💚 We hope to have the result in Queen's Park early this afternoon, but win or lose, we know we could not have asked for a better candidate, or a better team of activists in this by-election.
🔥 A massive thank you to everyone who played a part in Marina's campaign!
What a great day on the doors!
We know we can win this by-election. Without this team, I couldn’t do it 💚
For real, effective change on housing and rent controls, and a councillor that really speaks up for Queen’s Park residents - let’s get this done!
🚨 Just two weeks left to vote!
Huge thanks to Brighton & Hove Greens - the energy from members across England & Wales is powering this campaign!

Shame on the Commissioner.
Shame on the Home Secretary.
Shame on the Foreign Secretary.
Shame on the Prime Minister.
You're all defending war crimes.
Thousands are dying and this is your response. This is how you'll be remembered & we'll never forget.
I hope you’re proud of yourself.
Meanwhile people are left hopeless of a police response any time their property is stolen or even when they’re physically assaulted or threatened.
This isn’t just dystopian, it’s a callous abuse of public resources at unconscionable scale.
Ministers must not allow this guidance to come into force. The violations of the basic human right to exist in privacy will be legion, and obviously not just for trans people. If the laws as written need clarifying to fix this, they absolutely must step up and propose changes.
Once you’ve done that, as you’re here, you can engage with the actual issue and explain why Labour hired a large group of private enforcers to chuck 3 rough sleeper’s belongings in a skip, with reportedly no councillors/officers on site to oversee or help these individuals
Jacob, you’ve already tried lying about what I said on this and your words weren’t printed because they’re completely untrue
This is a very serious false accusation about our party and you should delete it and apologise
The Green Party in 2025 - happy for the homeless to live on a crumbling, structurally unsound and highly unsafe Victorian structure.
An appalling stance.
The city’s Labour administration will always act decisively and unflinchingly when people are at risk of serious harm.
This treatment of rough sleepers in our city is shameful. Councillors/officers should've been there to help these people, rather than just hiring private contractors to chuck all their belongings in a skip
@bhlabour must apologise and explain why they handled this so appallingly
EXC - More than 20 enforcement officers were sent to Brighton's seafront to clear away tents which have been there "for months"
🌍Green Councillor Chloë Goldsmith (@_greenchloe) slammed the council for the "shocking" treatment of rough sleepers in the city.
Really happy to see that automatic voter registration will also be part of these reforms – huge win for voter enfranchisement!
Disappointing and sadly unsurprising that they're not introducing any kind of proportional representation/better voting systems

Really pleased to see these changes being introduced. In the entertainment industry especially, NDAs have been misused for far too long to silence victims and protect the reputations of abusers, so this is a hugely positive step forward

Disgusting government is trying to lump @Pal_action & Neo Nazis into one bill.
Peaceful protest to stop a genocide has nothing to do with fascism - and the public know it.
Cynical. Transparent. Undemocratic.
Yesterday, we brought a motion to council, against these disability cuts
@bhlabour amended it to make it weaker, with some of their cllrs actually defending the green paper
Now it turns out 100+ of their own MPs would probably have supported our motion: https://t.co/RFAwQByeyT
In similar cases, juries have found protestors not guilty based on a belief that they were acting from a desire to prevent war crimes.
Proscribing Palestine Action sets a dangerous and worrying precedent.
Yesterday, Labour showed the contempt they have for disabled people in our city.
Their attempts to silence those who will be most affected by their cuts are shameful.
Marginalised voices must be listened to. Councillor Chloë Goldsmith (@_greenchloe) ensured they were heard:
