When I was younger, I always worshiped people who could find the right solution to a difficult problem. But now I've realized that it is so much harder and so much more important to find the right problem to work on, even if you cannot find a solution yet.

Every economist I know says that it takes 15 to 20 years before a new general purpose technology has a measurable effect on productivity.
The delay is determined by how fast people learn to use it.
So no, AI is not going to cause instant mass unemployment.
It's going to displace jobs over time and make people more productive, just like every other technological revolution before that.
Because intelligence is the primary (maybe only) survival advantage of homo sapiens, we may have evolved hard-wiring to value it over all other capabilities in nature. Perhaps partly why we are fascinated, and discomforted, by AI. And why we think it must be highly complex.

Temporal bias serves to amplify differences between the case (e.g. disease) and control (e.g. healthy) populations, improving apparent predictive accuracy and exaggerating effect sizes of predictors. reductio ad absurdum example: pregnant/non-pregnant See details in 2/

That means, one way to avoid concept shift is to NOT use static ranges for cardinal to ordinal var conversions (eg., 50K<= midincome<100K) while reducing dimensionality etc. USE dynamic quartiles instead?? #MachineLearning
