Younger generations can’t fathom the concept of sustained interest in something because they’ve been socially conditioned to consume a shiny new product/media every 2 weeks
Eddie can be out there negotiating with criminals, getting shot at, running an empire then come home and immediately get called Edwina by his siblings 😂
A2/B1 is a terrible spot to be for any language because you feel like you understand everything but you actually don’t understand anything and you can only have basic conversations
Kofi and Yaw are graduates who start jobs in Accra on a similar salary.
Kofi lives with his parents rent-free, while Yaw must rent and pay one or two years upfront.
I think aspirational rap works when people see your success as proof they can win too. Britain is class-bound, low on self-belief and full of tall poppy syndrome. We ask “who does he think he is?” before “if he can, I can.” Thats why struggle sells here better than transcendence.
I also hold a theory that UK rap stalled once everyone got money and started with the ostentatious flaunting of jewels etc in the faces of the buying / consuming UK public. There’s a section of people that like that, but I think the broader audience just thinks “flash c*nt”.
I’m sorry but if the doctor told me I was too big to get a MRI done and had to go to the ZOO of all places because I wont fit in the machine, I would be on a diet and in the gym the next day. Imagine having to be next in line after a rhino for a scan. That’s humiliating.
