It was the ancient capital of Iran, a majestic and wealthy metropolis without compare.

Islamic colonisers invaded the city, massacred everyone in it, replaced its population with Arabs, and made it decline into nothing.

Today, it's a crumbling ruin in the modern failed state of Iraq, only kept standing with the help of European archeologists, because the Iraqis can't care less about preserving it.

Have no clue about the benefits of the Israel-American relationship (there are many). Hate to hate. To see political candidates make anti-Israel one of their primary political positions, in the United States, and get votes for that, to play on ignorance about Israel, the region, the different fronts rather than real domestic issues like economy, safety, opportunity or foreign policy issues like great power competition, terrorism, energy, national security, waste/fraud/abuse in the international institutions.
