Please share this flyer with colleagues or patients who might be eligible and reach out to us for more information. This work is an important step toward restoring essential functions and independence after stroke.
This work is led by Drs. Jorge Gonzalez-Martinez and @ElviraPirondini at the Rehab Neural Engineering Labs and the Departments of @PittNeurosurg and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Pittsburgh.
We’re seeking volunteers who:
· Had a stroke more than 6 months ago
· Are between 18 and 75 years old
· Speak English
· Have difficulty with speaking, swallowing, or arm movement
Are you interested in speech, swallowing, and neuromodulation? Reach out to us! We're seeking a Research Assistant (with potential to transition into a PhD student) to work on our innovative deep brain stimulation technology.

Two of the most qualified women in the country ran for president against an unqualified, racist game show host who had a history of committing fraud and sexual abuse. And the country was basically split 50-50. That should tell us some things.
I am really excited to share our lab's first paper, published this week!
We wrote a review about the most recent advances in motor and sensory recovery using spinal cord stimulation (SCS)⚡️
This includes implanted & transcutaneous SCS

Excited of this work and new research direction in the lab! Loss of speech as a consequence of stroke or TBI is a devastating condition. Here we show a novel #dbs approach to restore natural speech!! Looking forward to test our technology in a larger clinical trial (NCT06303869)
🚨New #preprints alert!🚨 Excited to share our work on #DeepBrainStimulation of the motor thalamus to enhance speech & swallowing. This continues our research led by @LillyTang & me, with guidance from @ElviraPirondini & Jorge Gonzalez-Martinez. 🧠1/8

I'm excited to share our new paper showing a progressive decline in Aα/β-fiber recruitment during tonic DRG stimulation! Check out the highlights in Doug's post or read the full paper here: https://t.co/wYjpMA0Xeh
We are pleased & proud to share our latest paper, “Tonic stimulation of dorsal root ganglion results in progressive decline in recruitment of Aα/β-fibers in rats” by @_jting , Charli Hooper, & @dr_shlee, published today in @JNeuromod. @NeuroMechLabX@cmuneurosci @CMU_Mech
Our team at @PittTweet is participating in the NSF’s Innovation-Corps training program this spring. If you or someone you know has expertise in/uses a DBS system, please reach out via email or QR-code below (https://t.co/8SWZPvf0Pe) to volunteer for a quick call with us!
