At that very moment, Brigadier Joshi was out on his morning walk. A bullet from that reckless exchange found him. His friends rushed him to the hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.

A life of service ended by someone else’s arrogance. As far as the urban dehatis are concerned, I'm sure they'll be out on bail in no time.

@Dhurwa23 Just because you did not experience it does not mean it does not happen. If we dont face the reality, how will we solve it. Dont isolate the hindu women who suffer. We should infact spread this more so our women who go through this get the voice to speak up and save themselves.

She's Prabha Bhandari, IRS, 2016 batch, a woman who aspired to make it big, only to be let down by patriarchy because her two male juniors failed to keep their mouths shut and shattered her dreams.

She demanded a ₹1.5 crore bribe to bury a major GST evasion case and sent her two juniors Anil Tiwari and Ajay Sharma, to collect the first instalment, which turned out to be a CBI trap. Both were caught, and under questioning, named their superior, deputy commissioner Prabha Bhandari, as the mastermind. Cowards!

But the CBI wanted more than confessions, they wanted proof. They asked one arrested offical to call Bhandari on speakerphone in their presence. She answered after two rings. “The party has delivered ₹70 lakh,” he said. The response was instant, and incriminating. “Very good,” Bhandari replied, instructing that the cash be converted into gold and handed over to her. The call was recorded.

One CBI team arrested her in Delhi, while another broke open her locked Jhansi flat and found cash, gold, jewellery and property papers, strengthening the case.

Prabha Bhandari had scored excellent marks in the ethics paper of the UPSC, and her LinkedIn profile says that she delivers work with integrity. She is a go-getter, and her enhanced governance brings a positive impact on society.

Now you can feel better by asking, “Where is the US?” or “Where is the UN?” but trust me, nobody cares about a community that doesn’t care for its own. To explain my point: had this man been Palestinian and the perpetrators Israeli, Hindus only would have been erupting in outrage across social media like wildfire. Hindu intellectuals, actors, sportspersons, journalists, authors, everyone would have gone bonkers.

Because that’s the in thing. Hindu lives are not. So why should the world care? It’s not their responsibility. It’s ours, more so India’s. When India was divided, minorities were given assurances of protection by both India and undivided Pakistan to stay where they were, under the Nehru–Liaquat Pact. India is bound by the pact to safeguard them. But are we doing enough for them?
