I thought I was done when the season ended. I wasn't ready to announce it, and I knew I needed some time to really decide, but I was pretty sure I played my last game. I was honest at that last press conference when I said I needed to look at myself and deicide if I still love
21 years ago, we saw something in @realblackcoffee when few were paying attention. Today, look at what God has done with his journey. 🙏🏽❤️
This weekend, he took care of me in Ibiza, then said, “Bhuda, let’s go to Greece 🇬🇷 Mykonos Next thing, I am on a private jet for the first time in my life. 😂🙏🏽
Life has a beautiful way of coming full circle. Give from the heart. Don’t keep score. God can multiply it in ways you could never imagine.
Proud of you, Bhuda. I Believe. ❤️🙏🏽
A film diary app built by two guys in New Zealand is about to sell for $250 million, and Netflix, Sony, and Paramount are all in the room. They're bidding on the only database of what film lovers actually watch across every platform at once.
Letterboxd has 30 million members and added 10 million of them in the past year alone, while most social networks fought to stay flat. The product barely does anything. You log films, rate them, keep a watchlist. No DMs, no photos, no algorithmic feed.
Now look at it from a studio's side. Netflix knows everything you watch on Netflix and nothing about what you watch anywhere else. Sony and Paramount have the same blindness. Every streamer's data ends at its own walls, which makes 30 million cross-platform watchlists a pre-order book for the entire industry.
Studios spend hundreds of millions guessing what audiences want. Letterboxd has 30 million people writing it down for free.
The money story underneath is just as good. Tiny, the Canadian holding company, bought 60% of Letterboxd at a reported $50 million valuation in 2023. Three years later, LionTree is floating $250 million. A 5x in three years on an app the founders bootstrapped for twelve years before taking a dime of outside money. They still hold the other 40%.
At $250 million for 30 million members, the price comes out to about $8 per user. And these are users who log movies for fun and pay Letterboxd for the privilege of doing it more.
