No modern political event will make sense until you understand the two reasons why a man will hate you.
He will hate you because you harm him, which is easy to understand.
And he will hate you because he harms you.
No, that's not backwards. That is what you must understand.
Here's how it works.
Once upon a time, a man was given an ultimatum. He had to dissociate himself from me, or his long-term benefactor would withdraw all support.
Some people deliberate from principle, while others examine their bread to determine with side it is buttered on. I try not to judge people too harshly if they don't have much butter.
But, suffice to say, he followed his benefactor's commands, despite having nothing in particular against me.
But he then began to dislike me, and make childish comments behind my back. This was utterly predictable if you understand how humans work.
See, having acted against me, he needed to feel that his actions were just.
A man who has harmed you needs you to deserve it, so that he can still feel good about himself. And he will find excuses to think that, because humans are good at telling stories.
Welfare takers don't hate you even though your taxes keep them alive. They hate you because your taxes keep them alive.
The criminal underclass doesn't rob you because they hate you. They hate you because they rob you.
The teeming brown hordes of the third world don't hate you because of history. They hate you because they want to ruin your country and take all your stuff.
Bernie Sanders doesn't try to tax away everything you have because he hates you. He hates you because he wants to tax away everything you have.
It's important to understand this difference.
If a man hates you because you have hurt him, you can appease him. You can apologize, you can make amends, and he can forgive you if he chooses to.
Because forgiving you doesn't violate his self-image.
But if a man hates you because he has hurt you, then you can never appease him. The more you are kind to him, the more you try to placate him, the more sympathy and understanding and gifts you provide, the more he will find reasons to hate you.
Because if you are good, then he is bad. So you can never be good in his eyes.
This is why no amount of sympathy is ever enough. This is why reparations for fictional injuries are a demand that never ceases.
This is why communists want to kill you, no matter how much you benefit them. And the more you do for them, the more they will hate you and want to kill you.
You must never turn the other cheek unless you struck first. You must never apologize unless you have actually done wrong.
You must never pay the Dane-geld, or you will never be rid of the Dane.
You have to fight them. You have no choice.
Because they do not hate for your sins. They hate you for theirs.
And they will continue to hate you until you punish them. Only when they have been punished do they stop needing to tell stories about how you really deserved what they did.
Mercy is for after you take vengeance, not before.
Keep your problems smaller than your life. A flat tire is a flat tire. A bad meeting is a bad meeting. A canceled flight is just an extra two hours. These things become catastrophes when you let them. But they stay manageable when you remember the depth of your real life- the people you love, the work you care about, the beautiful years still ahead. Zoom out. Fit your reaction to the size of the problem.
My roommate accidentally convinced our entire apartment building that he was a government agent because he didn’t know how to end conversations normally.
It started because he ordered a shredder.
That’s it.
Just a regular office shredder from Amazon.
But the delivery guy asked,
“What do you need this for?”
And instead of saying “old bank statements” like a civilian, my roommate pauses for two full seconds and goes,
“Can’t really discuss that.”
Why would you say that.
Now the delivery guy looks nervous.
My roommate notices the nervousness.
And instead of correcting himself, he doubles down because apparently social anxiety turns him into a Batman villain.
He leans closer and says:
“Appreciate your discretion.”
The delivery guy left like he had just transported nuclear launch codes.
After that, weird things started happening.
Neighbors became oddly respectful.
People stopped asking him dumb small-talk questions in the elevator.
One old man saluted him once.
At first we thought it was coincidence.
Then our downstairs neighbor knocks on our door and quietly asks,
“Are we safe?”
My roommate, who is eating cereal at the time, just stares at him and says:
“For now.”
FOR NOW???
The neighbor looked like he was about to evacuate his family immediately.
Turns out the delivery guy had apparently told multiple people in the building that “federal people” were living on the third floor.
And honestly my roommate’s lifestyle was NOT helping.
He leaves the apartment at random hours.
Owns three identical black jackets.
Rarely explains where he’s going.
Has terrible posture but walks fast enough to seem important.
One time he came home carrying a locked briefcase.
Do you know what was inside?
A sandwich.
But nobody else knew that.
The paranoia escalated when building management installed new security cameras and my roommate casually muttered,
“About time.”
Now everybody thinks he requested surveillance upgrades.
Then came the incident with Apartment 4B.
There was a huge screaming argument downstairs around midnight.
Doors slamming.
People yelling.
Somebody crying.
The whole building could hear it.
My roommate walks into the hallway, listens for ten seconds, then calmly says:
“They’re moving earlier than expected.”
EARLIER THAN WHAT??
A woman across the hall literally gasped.
The next morning 4B had moved out unexpectedly because apparently they were already behind on rent and the fight ended the relationship.
But now the building believes my roommate orchestrated a covert extraction.
People started treating him like some kind of undercover protector.
Neighbors would randomly update him on “suspicious activity.”
One guy whispered:
“There’s a blue Honda that keeps circling the block.”
My roommate nodded and wrote something down.
Do you know what he wrote?
“Buy oat milk.”
But the guy saw the note-taking and immediately went,
“Knew it.”
Then management offered him a free parking spot “for operational convenience.”
HE TOOK IT.
At this point I asked him why he kept feeding the delusion instead of stopping it.
And he said something I’ll never forget:
“It’s gone too far to explain naturally.”
Which somehow made him sound EVEN MORE like a spy.
Then things became catastrophic.
A package got delivered to the wrong apartment and went missing.
Management called a building meeting about “recent security concerns.”
In the middle of the meeting, somebody actually turned toward my roommate and asked:
“What do you think we should do?”
This idiot crosses his arms and says:
“Keep communication limited. Don’t panic.”
The room nodded collectively.
I was watching a man fail upward into the CIA.
Then an actual police officer showed up later that week because somebody reported “possible federal surveillance activity.”
We thought the game was over.
But when the officer knocked on our door, my roommate opened it halfway, looked at the badge, and sighed like he was disappointed.
we live on a planet where trees warn each other of danger through underground networks. where octopuses dream. where elephants return to the bones of their dead and stand over them in silence. where bees communicate through dance, showing each other where to fly. where flowers bloom...where crows remember human faces -especially those who were cruel to them - and pass that memory on to their young. where ants build entire cities. where cats purr at a frequency that can help heal bones. where forests, after fires, grow flowers first.
As a music lover never rush into hating or rating an album or track without absorbing the art.
Some hit at first, some takes days, some months others might even be situations or personal experiences.
Music is a reflection of feelings, if you don't relate don't hate.
To stop ants coming in to your house leave a saucer of milk outside. The adult ants drink it & it has an effect on ant reproduction. The young are born without toes so they can't climb in to your
cavity walls.
This effect is called lack toes in toddler ants.
