“Lagi niyang iniisip yung family niya, kapakanan ng mga kapatid niya.”
WATCH: Jess Evangelio, Rene Baterbonia’s coach at Ateneo de Davao, shared that the late basketball player agreed to be recruited after asking that scholarships will also be extended to his younger siblings. | via @andietagz
oh my gosh. now i understand why ateneo is cupping that baldwin mouth. now i understand why there's almost a media blackout but they can't use shit to bring crickets to this news. this incident gonna go international atp.
hindi ko parin gets bakit may nagd-defend sa ateneo. okay, sabihin na natin na accident. hell, this accident could’ve been prevented if only the coaching staff and those behind this “team building” listened to their players saying how DEADLY this activity was for them. they obviously hated it. hindi lang isa nagsabi niyan from their interviews.
and wdym na pupunta kayo sa ganitong lugar without a proper first aid/med team that can help in case accidents like this happen? bakit unsupervised? bakit niyo hahayaan yung players to do activities in a beach na ganyan kalakas yung alon? THEY ARE STILL STUDENTS. hindi niyo lang sila pawn to get that stupid championship. 2 lives gone in a blink of an eye. breadwinners pa. this is so heartbreaking. ang sakit isipin that both these kids flew to manila with a dream and the same goal only to end up being sent back to their families inside a coffin.
HOLD ATENEO AND THE REST OF THE COACHING STAFF ACCOUNTABLE.
his story resonated w countless young filipinos who have nothing to lean on but their talent and determination. no connections, no famous last names, just relentless hard work, grit, and a dream of helping his family.
my heart aches for him. for his family. for every rene.
Hindi na nakakatulong sa akin mga ganitong info. Ang sakit na mabasa 🥺🥺 this is not about him being a student-athlete na eh, this is about him wanting a better future for his family—common to every Filipino breadwinner.
The owner of the resort has his business halted and affected because of the tragedy.
The bereaved mothers are badly begging Ateneo for answers.
Meanwhile, Tab Baldwin is “on leave”. Not suspended, not fired… he is ON LEAVE.
Going further downhill, @ateneodemanilau.
Also I hope we don’t only recognize Rene. From what I heard, Divine Adili was a nice, funny and easy to be with friend among non-student athletes. He also just came here in the Philippines to play ball all for them to take his life away because of this bullshit team building.
I hate how Ateneo, their admin and the coaching staff are afforded the privilege of privacy for the sake of their mental health. Meanwhile the families of the bereaved are left in the dark and left to “fend” for themselves in front of the press and public.
THE TRUTH. The parents of the 2 dead basketball players deserve no less.
If this was school sanctioned, was there neglect or carelessnesswith school authorities? Why was the training held there? Who was there? Were all precautions taken to protect students? Could this have been avoided?
Police must interview all personalities individually and protect their testimonies.
Ateneo, you are held in high esteem. Protect no one. Pursue truth & justice as is your motto, “Light in the Lord."
This has to be the most baffling, frustrating, and DISGUSTING results I’ve seen in Miss Universe.
They crowned the weakest among the 5. She shouldn’t even be in the top 5 if I’m being honest. There are candidates more deserving than her.
