What tees, what yardage should I play from? #Golf ⛳️🏌️‍♂️🏌️‍♀️

“Drive x25” … which also aligns nicely w/ @PGA / @USGA Tee It Forward recommendations ⬇️ & typical @PGATOUR setups for their avg drive of 300.

Plus…”Drive x25” rhymes.😉⛳️

@CarnoustieCad It’s hit/miss in my (limited / 3 times) experience with caddies. £120-£150 is relative to the round cost…but would need to be an absolutely outstanding & professional (& not quirky to caddie personality) round to justify the cost to me.

[MM🇺🇸 @MMGOLFSTUDIOS]

@Ilikeracing3 The right thing for him, sure. And eventually if it’s the right thing for enough people demand will drop and prices will drop.

But as it stands there are 28M on course golfers in the US and 12,000 public golf courses. 2300 players per public course is enormous.

[_KeithCook @_KeithCook]

@Golfingbrock @MidwestGolfJake I was just about to say this.
🎯💯

[_KeithCook @_KeithCook]

Until the demand calms … the prices will only go up.

I was hoping the industry would change from the shared rooms buddy trip standards coming out of Covid, but if anything, it’s packed even more into the same spaces & even tightened tee times to pack more onto the courses as well.

I was sent a secret submission to the “the most Champions Tour pic ever”.

(Yes it’s real and yes the sponsor on the caddies bib is also real)

[MYGOLFSPY @MyGolfSpy]

Ever wondered what it would cost to play the exact same clubs as Scottie Scheffler or Rory McIlroy?

We priced out the bags of the world's top 10 golfers.

Here's how much cash you'd have to spend: https://t.co/J2txMH6mdV

Does "never up, never in" apply to PGA Tour players?

Do the best players in the world get every putt to the hole?

I dug into 5 years of PGA Tour putting data to find out.

Inside 10 feet, almost nothing finishes short (3.4% or less). Then it climbs. Fast.
▶️20-24 feet: 26% short (about 1 in 4)
▶️30-34 feet: 40%
▶️45-49 feet: 49%
▶️70+ feet: 59%

From 45 feet and out, the best players on the planet leave about HALF their putts short. The best putters (top 20 in strokes gained putting) leave a few less short than the worst putters (ranked 160+). From 15-16 feet it's 11% vs 15%. So getting it to the hole matters the closer you are. As you move farther from the hole, the bigger difference is speed control.

Here's how to read the "Where Putts Finished" chart. Each bar shows where about 68% of missed putts finish (for the math nerds, that's plus or minus 1 standard deviation from the average “North/South” miss).

Where the bar sits shows where the misses are centered. From 20 and 30 feet, the bars sit mostly PAST the hole. As the putts get longer, the average miss moves back toward the hole. By 50 feet, the bar is centered right over it.

How long the bar is shows how good the speed control is. The number on the right is the length of that “speed control” zone. The shorter the bar, the tighter the distance control.

The best putters have the shorter bar at every distance, and the gap grows the farther back you go. From 50 feet, their zone is about 8 feet long. The worst putters' zone is almost 10 feet.

Tighter distance control means a shorter next putt. Shorter next putts mean fewer three-putts.

These 14 players didn’t miss from inside 3ft this year. That’s 9,195 makes.

When I play with them, it’s good.

With anyone else? 🤷‍♂️

[Michael S. Kim @Mike_kim714]

Guess how much time I spend practicing putts inside 3ft?

[_KeithCook @_KeithCook]

No…not in the overall sense of his point of “money” being the deciding factor.

Clearly chasing his 8th Race to Dubai & not getting there without India, Korea, & Abu Dhabi before the Championship in Dubai.

Appearance fee for many of them is nice, but more about the DPWT placement of India on the schedule gets everyone there as well in the last stretch run-up to Dubai.

[_KeithCook @_KeithCook]

We’re facing it tomorrow morning as well … & to be realistic … moving forward from now into spring.

Always the funny thing to me is a 1-hr delay & the guys at 8am hang around to start & then the guys at 9am always show up like they can’t comprehend why their time isn’t still 9am & gets pushed back too.🤣

[_KeithCook @_KeithCook]

Based on recent PGAT decision on (not) contributing to Champions tour pensions … what do you see the future of Champions Tour becoming?

Already an essentially closed shop tour — even difficult for former PGAT players to access & the dream of every guy heading to 50 is always met by that realization.

What’s the purpose going forward if remains as is?

[_KeithCook @_KeithCook]

@OffCueDaily

[_KeithCook @_KeithCook]

@DailyDivot All about volume — no matter the type of music.

I don’t mind it at all personally, but the guys in my group take it as an ancestral insult & are always ready to start a holy war over it if/when they hear it on the course. 🤣🤣🤣

[_KeithCook @_KeithCook]

@NUCLRGOLF Concentrate on speed as a vital fundamental…perhaps even more than line in terms of eliminating 3-putting.

Understand the concept of capture size of the hole & how much the mantra/mentality of “never up, never in” leads to bad putting.

[Monday Q Info @acaseofthegolf1]

Not surprisingly I’ve made a mistake.

Please follow @motocaddyusa (the account above is the global brand, so not a huge mistake. lol)

You will need to be following the USA account in order to win one in the giveaway next week. So might as well do it now

[_KeithCook @_KeithCook]

This won’t settle the debate.😉🤣

Think a good baseline is 4-hours.

CC players/courses probably look at 4-hours as a max. A public player/course (like myself) understands my course’s pace is 4:32…& that’s pretty accurate. Faster than that during the week, but full tee sheet weekends…🎯

[Zinnia Hazel @Zinniahazel]

Stop guessing chips. Start matching the club. ⛳️

7-iron = 1:7 (putt it)
9-iron = 1:4 (low & run)
PW = 1:2 (my go-to)
52° = 1:1 (over fringe)
56° = 2:1 (stop it)

RULE: Get it on the green ASAP, then let it roll.

More green
Less loft

[_KeithCook @_KeithCook]

Layered answer for sure & really a lot depending on who answers. Ask a US golfer & it’s a higher percentage dropping out based on weather, course design, personal preference…before you even get to physical limitations.

Ask golfers from other areas where weather’s not an issue, where green to next tee is short & courses are built to be walked…& you’ll get a way lower percentage…& a lazy Americans perspective.

Carts keep people playing longer or even allow them to play at all. Carts are baked into financial sheets for a large number of courses in modern times & modern builds. They aren’t going anywhere.
