The Story of Northeast India is too often told through headlines of conflict. But those headlines rarely capture the truth about the people who call this beautiful region home.

They are farmers cultivating their land, teachers shaping young minds, entrepreneurs creating livelihoods, students dreaming of a brighter future, and families working hard to build better lives. Like people everywhere, they seek peace, opportunity and dignity.

Unfortunately, organized criminal networks have long exploited the region's strategic location. Drug trafficking doesn't just spread addiction—it can enrich criminal enterprises, corrupt institutions and weaken communities. The burden falls on ordinary citizens: parents who fear for their children, young people whose futures are threatened by substance abuse and villages whose development is held back by insecurity.

Communities should never be judged by the actions of those who exploit them. The answer lies in stronger education, better employment opportunities, rehabilitation for those affected by addiction, accountable governance and determined action against organized crime. Peace cannot thrive where criminals profit from instability.

The people of Northeast India deserve to be known for their culture, resilience and aspirations not for the crimes of a few who seek power and profit through fear.

Stand with the people. Stand against organized crime, drug trafficking and violence.

Just heard from my worker that last night, around 12:30 AM, fear filled our village. A neighbour’s child was critically ill and struggling to breathe. An oxygen concentrator was the only hope but there was no electricity. The family ran through the night, knocking on petrol pumps and pleading for fuel to run a generator. Every pump was closed. In that moment, a child’s life felt painfully fragile.
What hurt even more was the question no one could answer: why wasn’t fuel available 24 hours in an emergency area? People need petrol at night for ambulances, generators, refills during harsh winter weather, and sudden medical crises. In regions like Sumbal, where patients are often rushed to SKIMS, SMHS, and Srinagar hospitals, shutting fuel access after dark is not just an inconvenience it is negligence. Emergencies do not wait for office hours.
With no options left, the distressed family reached out to the local
Army 13 RR Camp at Safapora and explained the emergency. Fortunately, there were no delays and no formalities—only humanity. Petrol was provided immediately, because a child’s life mattered more than procedures. That single act allowed the oxygen to run and gave the child a chance to breathe.
I humbly urge the administration, especially DC Bandipora @dcbandipora @indukanwal to ensure 24×7 fuel availability, particularly during harsh weather and medical emergencies. No parent should have to run through the darkness fearing the loss of a child because a system failed them.
This is not just a story it is a reminder for responsible governance.
