It began in 2015. Like many young fans, I found my heroes far from home, Borussia Dortmund a club in Germany and Cristiano Ronaldo on the world stage. I do not know why I chose them. Maybe it was the innocence of that age. But once chosen, I stayed loyal.

Then one day, I looked back at my own land and felt the silence. Our national team had no voices, no facilities, no support. That was when I understood something important. Passion means nothing if it forgets its roots.

Then I found a club from my hometown, Coimbatore, playing in the I League @ChennaiCityFC . It was more than a club. It was an identity. We created history and football finally felt like home. Then, like many dreams in this country, it ended. The club shut down and only memories remain.

I chose to support Indian Football, state leagues, ISL, I League, IWL. Now, a decade has passed. Indian football has not moved forward. It has gone backward. There are no sponsors, no vision, and a federation without direction. Dreams were inflated into crores and badges were forgotten from players . Now more than 15,000 people were left stranded without ISL. The whole ecosystem is in pause.

Still, I stand proud. Proud that I have chosen my roots. Proud to support Indian football, even when it stands alone.

With the hope that somewhere, someday, on foreign soil, I am waiting to hear Jana Gana Mana in a World Cup. Not because we won, but because we finally arrived.
