@ChristieNold So far we’ve had 1 Wednesday in DL with this switch to all-day prep time... and it was glorious. It was also the day grades were due, so, not a lot of prep was done, BUT I was able to leave school on time and not do any work at home...which was a game changer!
@ChristieNold I know we are extremely lucky- but we’ve also been through 4 learning model shifts already and probably 1/3 of our high school teaching staff (along with 2 sports teams + entire Homecoming court) has been quarantined at various times. It was necessary.
"No longer can we dust off the welcome mats for back-to-school nights...then swiftly roll them back up, shooing parents away and telling them, 'Trust us.' We are now guests in their homes."
The always brilliant @SonjaSantelises giving me chills...

Hey, if you have a student who reminds you of a specific character in a story, or perhaps worse, of their older sibling whom you also taught, just keep that impression to yourself, mmkay?
If you’re still wearing a mask, washing your hands, and staying away from people, please share this because sometimes people try to make me feel like I’m overreacting.
@joelhogz@JoeBiden So it comes across very hypocritical to see the same congresspeople praising Trump for his handling of it when they heavily criticized Obama. Again, I know they are different, but it’s just evidence of partisan and politicization of global health issues.
@joelhogz@JoeBiden I think despite the viruses being different, they were both pandemics. One of them was taken seriously and contained. The other was not. And Obama was similarly raked over the coals for his handling of the virus, as has Trump, but the outcomes of each virus are very different.
If the only time you feel BALANCED as an educator is on your DAY OFF that says something about the weight of being an educator.
Something’s broken.
It’s time to fix this.
