@sarahjeanbaker Exactly. Seeing others as human is realizing that there is so much more potential than simple compliance and so many deeper ways to encourage life skills and habits than shaming. I know first hand that the job is hard and I’ll always offer support where I can, but this is tough

I’m not currently in the classroom and have a strong feeling about giving “fellow educator” sounding advice to folks who are, so I’ll speak as a mother instead: could we please consider getting rid of the “sing in the front of the class for a lost pencil” thing? [1/4]

As an appendix to this thread, please note that I am willing to buy any number of pencils to add to the 48 I already provided. I used to buy them for my own classroom and I know they’re not cheap.

I’m all for teaching “responsibility” (though I dislike how that’s defined by most [white] folks), but the threat of shame can’t be the only way. Maybe I’m off base here and I’m open to other viewpoints or experiences, but I’m struggling with it. [the end]

I feel like the state of Indiana really ought to be seizing corn’s meteoric rise to fame, seeing as how the state is just one oversized corn cob, 🤷🏼‍♀️

@VictoriaTheTech Charmin ultra soft (or ultra strong is an acceptable replacement.) We were forced to try many alternatives in 2020 and none even came close. (I have equally high standards for my paper towels 😬)
