MLB ⚾️ Lock #1 (June 4th)
Brayan Bello o 3.5 Strikeouts
(-138 DK)
80 PERCENT HIT RATE 💎‼️
❤️ IF YOU’RE TAILING
- Brayan Bello gets a favorable opportunity to continue the momentum he built during the month of May. While his season-long numbers do not jump off the page, Bello pitched dramatically better over the last month, posting a 2.67 ERA while averaging 6 innings per outing. His strikeout rate climbed to 18.7% during that stretch, which may not be elite, but it is more than enough to clear a modest line of 3.5 strikeouts.
- The matchup against the Baltimore Orioles is one that offers plenty of strikeout potential. Seven of the nine projected Orioles starters own strikeout rates of 21% or higher against right-handed pitching, giving Bello multiple hitters throughout the lineup that can be exploited if he is locating his pitches effectively.
- Some may look at Bello's previous start against Baltimore and be hesitant, but that outing was a clear outlier. He allowed a season-high 13 hits and 5 home runs, numbers that are wildly inconsistent with the rest of his season. Outside of that game, Bello has done a much better job limiting HRs.
- Another encouraging sign is that the underlying metrics suggest his strikeout rate could improve moving forward. Bello owns a chase rate in the 57th percentile and a whiff rate in the 52nd percentile, both of which are above league average. Pitchers with those underlying numbers typically generate more strikeouts than Bello has so far, suggesting there may be some positive regression on the horizon.
- Returning home should help as well. Bello has pitched significantly better in his home games this season, and with a strikeout-prone Orioles lineup in town, this is a strong spot for him to record at least four punchouts.

MLB ⚾️ Lock #2 (June 4th)
Jared Jones o 5.5 Strikeouts
(-102 FD)
❤️ IF YOU’RE TAILING
- Jared Jones missed all of last season, but he has returned looking every bit like one of the premier strikeout arms in baseball. In fact, his stuff may be even better now than it was during his rookie campaign. Jones is averaging 99 MPH on his fastball and regularly touching triple digits, giving him the type of velocity that can overwhelm hitters regardless of matchup.
- That elite velocity is a major reason why his strikeout upside remains so high. When a pitcher can consistently sit in the upper 90s while mixing in quality secondary pitches, he doesn't necessarily need an opponent loaded with high-strikeout hitters to rack up punchouts. Pure stuff can create strikeouts even against disciplined lineups.
- The matchup against the Houston Astros is better than it may appear at first glance. Four projected Astros hitters own strikeout rates of 20% or higher against right-handed pitching, while two others sit around 18%. While Houston is not known as a strikeout-heavy team, there are still enough vulnerable bats in the lineup to give Jones opportunities throughout the game.
- His first start back was far from ideal as he allowed five runs, which likely prevented him from pitching deeper into the game. Assuming he is sharper this time around, there is a strong chance he works at least five innings. Given his strikeout profile and ability to generate swings and misses at an elite rate, he does not need an excessive workload to get there. If he averages a little more than a strikeout per inning, six punchouts is well within reach.

WNBA🏀 Lock #1 (June 4th)
Rhyne Howard o 16.5 Points
(-145 Fanatics)
❤️ THIS POST FOR ANOTHER PLAY
- She’s coming off her best game of the season, dropping 36 points against Connecticut Sun, and I’m honestly surprised this line hasn’t moved.
- Howard has cleared this number in 3 of her last 5 games while averaging 21 points per game and 15 field goal attempts over that span.
- The matchup is excellent. Indiana ranks near the bottom of the league against opposing guards and has consistently allowed big scoring performances from perimeter players.
- Veronica Burton went for 25, Sonia Citron scored 30, Kelsey Plum had 25, and Paige Bueckers finished with 20 against this defense.
- Howard is playing heavy minutes, getting elite volume, and shooting with confidence right now. If she gets anywhere close to the 14-15 shot attempts she’s been seeing lately, she will have no problem clearing this number in what projects to be another high-scoring game.
