I am watching the left propose increasingly bad (rent freeze, minimum wage hikes, huge tax increases) proposals that will wreck the economy.

This is driven by anger from young voters, who are priced out of housing, can't get jobs, and feel like the system is rigged against them.

And you know what? They are right. It is.

What I'm not seeing is any politician, Democrat or Republican, courageous enough to point out the real issue:

Boomers voted themselves huge future benefits but did not fund them, so now we are running huge deficits to pay for them while talking about raising taxes on people who weren't even born yet when those things were decided to pay the olds.

The reality is this: young people in the US, to save yourselves, you're going to have to tear down the programs for the Boomers, rationalize immigration laws to ensure you get first look at American jobs and companies have the incentive to put them here, force housing to be built, and massively cut federal (and in many cases, state) spending and the size of the government.

Any politician who is not willing to tell you the truth about this is fucking you. Trump? Fucking you. Mamdani? Also fucking you.

If you can't figure this out, things will get worse from here.

This is one of the clearest explanations so far of why the proposed CGT changes are economically flawed and could damage long term investment in Australia, written by former Treasury official Geoff Francis.

One of Geoff’s key criticisms is the return to inflation indexation on an asset by asset basis, something I’ve also been raising over the past week. Because inflation adjusted losses on one investment can’t offset gains on another, diversified investors can end up paying tax rates higher than their actual real returns. It also suggests the housing changes are based on flawed assumptions about property investors and will likely reduce housing supply, increase rents and hurt long term renters.

More broadly, Geoff argues the reforms do little to improve productivity or economic growth. He also points out that the additional tax revenue isn’t being used to reduce inefficient taxes elsewhere, but instead to fund more spending and debt, while the modest WATO tax offset will likely be quickly eroded by bracket creep.

I love Australia but it is getting hard.

I am pro government and I pay taxes. I believe some social welfare is important and I accept that a lot of my taxes will be mismanaged.

When wolves surround your house & try to slaughter your family, you don’t stop to poll your social media approval rating. You don’t negotiate with extinction.
You fight to win.
That’s exactly what Israel did, the brutal necessity of survival.

Iran’s forty-year strangulation plan lies in ruins. Their “Axis of Resistance” is a trail of corpses & shattered delusions. The greatest coordinated threat Israel ever faced wasn’t contained. It was obliterated.

Would you trade your family’s safety for polite words from strangers online?

Israel made its choice. Life over likes. Our children’s future over their fleeting outrage. Existence over their moral lectures.
