There's a campaign claiming that you can legally stop paying tax to protest the war in Gaza, or even that it is illegal for you to pay tax.

It's obviously weird nonsense. But what's weirder is that the claim has its origins in far-right racist groups in the US.

@gor_zilla @alexhanna We are in the UK but have definitely been very outspoken on AI in UTAW and the CWU! UK unions generally have been quite vocal imo, surprised to hear that might not be the case in the US

Feel like this example could be used anywhere new tech (e.g. gen AI) is being used to "upgrade" long-standing processes and procedures tbh. Institutional knowledge as demonstrated through workplace culture and practices isn't always well-recognised.

good NPR episode about a hospital that tried to replace pagers with encrypted text messaging and failed

basically the encrypted texts meant the friction was so low to get a consult that people started bombarding the on-call residents and they essentially stopped responding to the texts

@CRMullins @nikillinit @rosikand Is there any particular app you use to do this? I've been using Pocket to store articles etc. that I'd like to read but adding summaries sounds super useful in terms of prioritising!
