And too many of our parents & grandparents couldn’t care less.
They got cheap homes, cars, Social Security & didn’t fight to protect it for their kids & grandkids. And now their only concern is how near they are to the graveyard.
@PublicSourcePA They should pledge it to the residents who've had to breathe in illegal rates of sulfur, dioxide, benzene etc for decades so they can move the hell out of the area. Violation after violation.
It’s frustrating to see ppl avoid accountability for saying that. Many of us followed that path, took on debt, and now we're being told we should have chosen a trade instead. Excuse me? Plz don't make me act a fool.
A lot of for-profit trade schools are popping up cashing in on it too.
While everyone is discussing pay raise for the cast of a run a way movie. #Obsession
Reminder.
Mo'Nique was blacklisted from Hollywood for asking for more compensation for Precious.
It can help over time, but we're in a crisis and need direct action, similar to housing. Black unemployment is 6.6% nationally. In DC it's 10.1%, and higher east of the river. Both have their strengths, but all candidates should commit to a specific number and timeline for getting it down. Housing gets numbers; unemployment should too.
That's different from directly creating jobs. Increasing circulating dollars is fine, but it doesn't create openings. I read her plan about enhancing existing programs, but I haven't heard a concrete goal like "get unemployment down to X%." There are plenty of housing numbers, but no unemployment target.
While #ADOS are being pushed to homelessness, I walked past three homes in my community that were playing that Mexican merry go round music too loud. My community was once all ADOS.
All we do is pave the way for immigrants to live the American dream. Once we fight for it & set it up, they move in.
Not one member of the CBC, no mention of Black unemployment from the NAACP, the so-called Black Media, or any Civil Rights leaders have asked Mr. Trump about Black unemployment. But they all have told us to make sacrifices for them and to support millions of illegal immigrants. We must wake up to the fact that we have no representation; we are on our own.
@SummerForPA. Please take a closer look at the data. It's wrong to say we're the same. Stereotypes of black immigrants are much less negative than those of Black Americans. Ppl *can* tell the difference. They are preferred in hiring, education, etc. Tons of data on this.
You're from Braddock, no? I'm from the Valley too. We know the deal. We can look at the position of African immigrants vs the Black American people we grew up with who worked in the Steel Mills that are now shuttered. Immigrants who just got here largely in the 2000s know nothing of this. No research needed.
Tons of data though. There are vastly different outcomes for black immigrant groups compared to American Descendents of Slavery in nearly every area. We need specific legalization that addresses the cost of American oppression that uniquely impacts us. I hope you reconsider.
“Specifically, we find that Black Americans are less likely to be selected for an interview or offered a job and are evaluated more negatively overall relative to Black Africans”
Do y'all hear this lying ass member of Congress? Where can ADOS be deported to, Congresswoman Lee? Please share this. She needs to be humiliated for lying in our faces.
As long as Trump keeps posting pictures of the Obamas as monkeys, purging Blacks from the federal government, & going after ‘reverse racism’, the president will not lose his core supporters.
Racism against #ADOS is the heart of the rot. And unless you deal with it—I mean seriously deal with it—nothing changes.
