Despite how impluaible the claim was, that a 12.7mm machine gun, with an effective range of roughly 5,000 feet, could bring down an aircraft cruising at 40,000 feet and traveling at over 500 mph, the report gained widespread traction.

It was a bizarre episode in which an American publication renowned for its business reporting and financial market coverage engaged in what was a baseless and illogical propaganda campaign against the Nigerian Air Force.

Firstly, this lady was having fun with her female friends. You cannot see any single man in that video. She was properly dressed. Every other lady in that video as well was also covered. We should be asking you as a self acclaimed holy, religious and morally upright Muslim man, how you came about that video and why you shared it on twitter solely to farm engagement without her consent.

Second, if you pay attention, you will know that the background music is not the original one. It was definitely added. You don’t need to be a tech-expert to know that if that’s the original sound, you will hear the voice of the lady and that of her friend.

Third, please learn to mind your own business henceforth and stop bringing someone video on the internet to judge them. I struggle to comprehend how a full grown adult like you will equate a properly covered woman having fun and dancing among her fellow women to her not being a good wife and automatically means she will not pass good moral values to her children. You just judged her entire life with one video.

The Islam we both practice says:

Next time, mind your business and stop sharing videos like this one on the internet. You should spend your time fixing your own faults instead of looking at the flaws or private lives of others. What does that mean?

Nisab is the minimum amount of wealth a Muslim must own continuously for one lunar (Hijri) year before Zakat becomes obligatory. In this case, based on the current value of 85 grams of gold and the prevailing exchange rate, anyone whose total Zakatable assets—such as cash, savings, gold, silver, business inventory, investments, and money owed to them (after deducting eligible debts)—equal or exceed ₦15,359,500 is required to pay Zakat. The amount of Zakat due is 2.5% (one-fortieth) of the qualifying wealth, not the entire ₦15.36 million. For example, if your net Zakatable wealth is exactly ₦15,359,500, your Zakat would be about ₦383,988 (2.5%), provided you have held that level of wealth for a full Hijri year.

A Muslim philanthropist wanted to sponsor someone for Hajj.

So, he went to his local mosque to enquire if anyone had a passport.

The window was very short, as the opportunity had just opened up.

So they needed to submit the passport within 24 hours.

Unfortunately none of the congregants had a passport. Not even the Imam.

Seeing that no one in the mosque had a passport and the opportunity would go to another mosque, the Imam asked if anyone knew someone who had one.

A man who had come to visit his friend had a passport, but because he was a visitor, he didn’t want to be too forward.

When no one in the mosque could provide a candidate with a passport, the visitor whispered to his friend:

“I have a passport o.”

His friend then shouted, “We have a passport!”

The philanthropist was relieved.

He told him to get the passport immediately.

The man quickly ran home and returned with it within a few hours.

That was how he secured a free Hajj slot and performed an all-expense-paid Hajj.

Sometimes, we encounter life-changing opportunities but are unable to take advantage of them because we lack the requirements.

We need to always be prepared for moments like this, whether in our personal or professional lives.

I was scrolling on TikTok and came across a heartbreaking video of a brother (from Katsina State) who denounced Islam. Subhanallah!

Note: Leaving Islam doesn’t reduce Allah in any way. But we must fix what’s broken in our Ummah.

I couldn’t listen to the full reasons, but key points stood out: his family abandoned him, injustice, crushing poverty, and some Christian brothers stepping in to help him when no one else did. He chose to convert.

In most northern states, we have Zakat and Endowment Boards + Sharia Courts. Yet the heads turn these into personal ATM machines, enriching themselves and their families while ignoring those Allah clearly prescribed in Suratut-Tauba, Verse 60. Even non-Muslims are entitled to Zakat according to Islam, but we don’t even discuss it.

Recently, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II boldly pointed out that poverty in northern Nigeria could push people away from Islam. Instead of reflecting, some illiterate voices cursed him for speaking the truth.

Wallahi, as Muslims, if we cannot stand for justice, not just for ourselves but for others too, Allah will surely deal with this deception.

One of our sisters enrolled her daughter in a well-known Christian secondary school, undoubtedly one of the best schools in the area. The girl was in the junior secondary classes and lived in the boarding house. As a result, she stopped attending Madrasah, no longer wore her ḥijāb, and was not allowed to fast during Ramaḍān because of the school's policy. She also began learning Christian hymns and participating in Christian prayers.

Despite repeated counselling, the situation continued until it became evident that, within a relatively short period, the girl had almost completely adopted the religious practices and outlook of the school. Realising the seriousness of the situation, her parents eventually withdrew her from the school.

Without any disrespect whatsoever to Christians or Christianity, it is important to recognise that Christian schools have their own values, beliefs, and traditions which they sincerely seek to impart to the children under their care. They are not necessarily being unfair by maintaining their religious ethos. After all, parents who choose such schools generally do so knowing the character and identity of the institution. It would therefore be unrealistic to expect those schools to alter their programmes to accommodate every family's religious expectations.

Mutual respect requires us to acknowledge these realities and make informed decisions, especially when our faith is a central part of our lives.

For this reason, unless there are compelling circumstances, Muslim parents should carefully consider the long-term religious implications before enrolling their children in institutions whose ethos may conflict with Islamic beliefs and practices. If, upon reaching adulthood, a child freely chooses another faith, that is a personal decision for which they bear responsibility. However, while children are still under their parents' care, Muslim parents have both the right and the responsibility to provide them with a sound Islamic upbringing, nurture their religious identity, and instil a firm consciousness of their faith.

For a religious zealot like Shekau, it was his wild ego wrapped in an obsession with spiritual purity. The day Shekau closed the door of Islam and decided he was the only person left inside the religion was the day Shaitan finished his job on him. He was completely done for.

May the heavy curse of the Almighty be upon Abubakar Shekau and every single bloodthirsty extremist who walks his path. May his grave be filled with the very fire he ignited in our communities.
