The roundup of beggars in Lagos—mostly Northern women and children is a painful sight, but the public backlash is 100% justified.

We must stop defending the indefensible. As Northerners, we have to face reality: we lead in street begging, systemic laziness, and abandoning our kids to the streets, all while using a false sense of religious reliance to cover it up.
