@HuskerMike28 This is ridiculous, I get wanting to keep our players hungry, but no other team in a top conference going 5-0 is going unranked. Nebraska deserves to be ranked. Give me a top 25 showdown with Indiana.
@huntingground19@slamwontmiss Nah GLP-1s weren't a thing people were using for weight loss when he did Dallas Buyers Club. They were just for diabetes but people hadn't figured out everybody could lose weight with them.
@catholiccom Doctors were telling my family my mom couldn't be helped anymore and to put her in hospice, she was nonverbal, not eating or drinking wasn't there. I paid to St. Peregrine so much, within a week and a half she was back to normal and continuing treatment for cancer.
Ron White on Ken Paxton: “He’s a criminal. Just a piece of shit”
Joe Rogan: “I don’t know enough about him, but I do know they’re surprised Talarico’s ahead of him in the polls”
Ron White: “I’m not. I think people are sick of what’s going on right now in Texas. They’ve been in control for 30 years, what have they given us? Let somebody else fucking drive. They’re jacking with my marijuana, I’m ready to get em out”
@Mappy6984 Scared the shit out of my parents waiting those long hours not knowing what was going on, only to learn later how close I came to potentially dying. Was a wild time, and the school gifted us with a bunch of stuff, probably praying we wouldn't sue them. Needles aren't used anymore
@Mappy6984 Function in my right knee. And now even 20 years later my right knee is still very numb. The stitches were in 5 different spots on my knee with 2 that are 2 inches long and tingle when touched. What was expected to be a quick surgery ended up taking 4-5 hours.
In Nebraska I was told a number. I did not believe it. I have since checked it, and I still do not believe it.
The football stadium in Lincoln has sold every seat, for every home game, since November 3, 1962.
Every game. Not the good years. Every game. Through seasons the state would rather not discuss. Through blizzards. Through years when leaving early would have been reasonable, and nobody left.
I asked a man named Gary how two million people keep a promise for that long.
He said, "You buy the ticket."
I asked what if the team is bad.
"You buy the ticket."
I asked what if it is snowing.
He looked at me with real patience. "You buy the ticket."
Here is the part that undid me. The first game of the streak, in 1962, they lost. Thirty-six thousand people came out the week after the Cuban Missile Crisis ended, watched their team lose to Missouri, and came back for the next one anyway. And the next. It has not stopped.
The streak began with a loss. Nobody in Nebraska finds this ironic. They find it obvious.
This summer there was worry. Ticket sales were slow. People wrote articles asking whether it would finally end. I read them in a diner over a slice of pie I did not finish, and I confess I was afraid for a state I do not live in.
Then this week they announced the opener is sold out. Four hundred and eleven in a row.
In my land, a lord who kept his word for sixty years was written into the temple records.
Nebraska has kept its word since the Cuban Missile Crisis. There is no temple. There are eighty-five thousand people who bought the ticket.
Gary is going Saturday. It is not snowing. He would go if it were.
A promise is easy in a winning season.
Nebraska has kept one through every other kind.
@1Faalsen@FromN5_ If a hospital says "it will be ready when you get there" and it's not ready then that person needs to step to the side and wait until it is ready.
