No Airport. No new Industries. No new Cricket Ground and now Mega Sports City project scrapped.

If I remember, DMK fought tooth and nail to recover this 100 acre land from Jeppiar group and wanted to build a mega sports city.

And now our Current Finance Minister is son in law of Jeppiar Group.

Connect the dots. The CM is just dumb and all the people with vested interests surrounding the CM are fuelling the ego and narcissism inside of him and literally working everyday against the development of TN.

Chennai airport could gain capacity to handle around 55 million passengers a year through a proposed Terminal 5 on an under-utilised triangular parcel between its two runways with minimal land acquisition and relocation of people, top airport officials told businessline.

Hope the decision to scrap #Parandur airport project will be challenged in Court and the Government called upon to explain how they are going to identify 6000 acres of land near Chennai without any water body or any agricultural land.

Thousands of crores of public money have been spent on the project already and it should not be scrapped on the whims and fancies of one man.

One can understand if there are alternate sites already in the picture. Even then the minimum time to get the approvals and start land acquisition is not less than 3 years. After that God knows how long land acquisition will take.

Here they have no clue where that alternate location is. If they had why didn't the CM mention these in his speech today?

It will be a minimum of 10 years before the airport can be built and becomes functional and that is assuming everything happens at great speed.

Meanwhile Bangalore and Hyderabad will race ahead and maybe some other cities too.

Chennai will no longer be a metro. We will be a tier 2 city in less than a decade.

If the same attitude persists across sectors the State is doomed.
