Author & Investor, consider myself an advocate for sustainable peace with better systems, truth grounded interactions, human responsibility for AI, golden rule.
My last essays are a peace plan:
“Sustainable Competition for Sustainable Monopolies” & “AI Economics” structure future economy.
“AlignmentProtocol” negotiate divergent interests.
“ChatFlavors” Bias models.
“The Difference Between SciFi and Religion” why Religion is relevant.
Of more interest to me in how I assess novel media content is to what extent they surprise my attention and inspire new directions of thought. Factually accurate journalism is less interesting to me than speculative and innovative dialogues that enhances/sparks my own creativity.
As I’ve referenced quantum computing in the past, wish to clarify my interpretation of boundaries of the field of my expertise:
Quantum Computing is a specialized resource for reducing the energy footprint / carbon intensity / infrastructure costs to an economy of scaled compute.
I am glad we have intelligent writers surveying the complexities of AI integration to our school system with well reasoned takes like this one. Thanks Dave Eggers, glad to see you have found a simple solution of no AI until you are 21. Perhaps you can test this on yourself first?
“Beyond dystopian.”
Novelist Dave Eggers is sounding the alarm about AI, which he argues is harming children’s education:
“You have a ten-year-old who is unprecedented in the history of the world. There's never been anyone like that person… To think about that one-of-a-kind-in-the-history-of-humanity person shopping their vision out to a machine, how tragic that is. That's beyond dystopian. It cannot be allowed. Not even one ounce of AI can be allowed in the humanities and youth education.”
Lie detector heuristic: convincing truth tellers will have tendency for briefer statements than liers, simply because in order for an inconsistent statement to achieve an objective it needs more tokens to offset the falsehoods.
For some time I expected that as general LLM rule, the longer the prompt, to the extent it is self consistent, more performant can be expected the results. There is a fallacy there though, the tradeoff is that this same prompt will increasingly lose relevance in diverse contexts.
Restated: if growing prompt size leads to increasingly losing relevance to diverse context, we could extract that to imply that the longer the prompt size grows the more impactful could be a single error from the prompt. Short prompts are tolerant to errors. Long prompts fragile.
Recently recast my tweets from protected to public. I am an aspiring professional author. Participating in social media is what aspiring professional authors do.
American politicians have diverse biases for investing in projects with immediate benefits and those with long term benefits. Many policy decisions have complexity originating from assumptions of state of future economy. (Space economy tends to pursue long term, bankers less so.)
If you don’t want AI to take over the economy from humans you need to allow humans to participate in the economy in at least an equivalent scale of reach to AI.
@NASAAdmin hi there, just saw that @NASA found a new need for 1B in repairs to launch infrastructure at Kennedy. As brainstorming idea / suggestion, perhaps we could consider replacing just a single scheduled SLS launch with a single Starship launch to recover that entire amount.
@maxdesalle@DavidDeutschOxf A deterministic framework omits context of observer’s state of mind. You have to condition on knowledge and engage surroundings. If there is a purpose of Human consciousness that is outside the reach of machines that is the most critical. Where we devote our attention bottleneck.
As a clarification toward my withdrawal from 15+ years of nearly daily public tweets on this platform, I am operating on assumption that parts of my writing portfolio are of much greater significance and don’t wish this venue to become a distraction. I may later choose to return.
References to a peace plan are not meant to imply any specific setting other than those in which humans are competing with AI.
A central premise of the plan is that statements and actions tied to a specific human have more validity than those from which a attribution is omitted.
