On behalf of the Government of Canada, Prime Minister Carney thanks Her Excellency Mary Simon for her service and devotion to our nation.
Her Excellency’s legacy will endure not only in her service, but in how she served – with grace, resolve, and a belief in Canada’s greatness.
Canada’s government strongly believes that the interests of Albertans and all Canadians are best served when we work together. As one example, Canada and Alberta are now moving forward with a landmark agreement that gives investors certainty and unlocks the full potential of Alberta’s resources in both clean and conventional energy. With this agreement, Prime Minister Carney and Premier Smith are demonstrating that cooperative federalism works — and delivers results.
As we take note of Premier Smith’s address this evening, we remain focused on building a stronger Canada for all, in full partnership with Alberta and to the benefit of all Albertans and all Canadians.
Pride is a promise — that every Canadian can live safely, openly, and proudly as themselves.
On the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia, we recommit ourselves to fight for the dignity, security, and equal rights of 2SLGBTQIA+ people in Canada and around the world.
Everyone deserves safety, dignity, and freedom. Today and always, we work toward a country where 2SLGBTQI+ communities can live openly and authentically – free from discrimination, hate, and violence – because a Canada for all is a Canada without hate.
It was a pleasure to spend time with Prime Minister @MarkJCarney last week in Toronto.
In a rapidly changing world, the longstanding partnership between our two countries remains essential. At home and abroad, there is no going back to old ways - nor should we try - but as neighbors and friends we should work together to shape a better future.
BREAKING: Athabasca Chipewyan FN & Blood Tribe say they've won their court challenge of the Alberta separation referendum. The Chief Electoral Officer’s decision to issue a citizen initiative petition on independence has been quashed.
This is false. Canadians can rest assured that they will be able to enjoy the Iconic Snowbird formation for generations to come. I’ll be in Moose Jaw on May 19th to say more.
"The country's doing great, and Iran's not doing well at all, and good things are happening." - The President, calling into his gold statue dedication as gas prices hit record highs.

The late Rt. Hon. Herb Gray, PC, CC, QC was Canada's first Jewish federal minister, serving in cabinet under three prime ministers and as a Member of Parliament for four decades—the longest continuously-serving in Canadian history.
His lifetime of outstanding service is felt deeply in Canadian politics, and it was an honour to have served alongside him in the 35th to 37th Parliaments of Canada.
Welcome back to Canada, President @BarackObama.
Thank you for joining us in Toronto for important conversations on how we can build a better and more just future — and empower more people to build with us.
The Government of Canada is responding to the Andes Hantavirus outbreak on the MV Hondius. I have directed Global Affairs Consular officials to be at the port ready to meet Canadians when they disembark.
Together with @NikolPashinyan, I have invited @MarkJCarney to participate as a guest in the next Summit of the European Political Community, in Yerevan.
It is the first time a non-European country takes part in the EPC.
Europe and Canada are more than just like-minded partners - together we are building a global alliance to defend peace, shared prosperity and multilateralism.
PM Carney on the Americans calling the alcohol ban an irritant: "You know what's an irritant? 50% tariffs on steel. 50% tariffs on aluminum. 25% tariffs on automobiles. All the tariffs on forest products. Those are more than irritants, those are violations of our trade deal."
