Armenia, one of the world's oldest and greatest civilizations, was invaded and occupied by Muslim Turks from Central Asia beginning in the 11th century (first by the Seljuk and then the Ottomans).

That part occupied by Turks came to be called western Armenia. In that part of Armenia, Turks took over Armenian lands, turning Armenians and other Christians into second-class subjects. Armenian properties were looted; their churches destroyed and abused. In 1915, Turks conducted the 20th century's first genocide against Armenians. They have eventually erased the entire Armenian-Christian demographic presence and cultural heritage in those same lands where Armenians were once indigenous.

In eastern Armenia, which was under Russian influence and control, the Armenian demography, language and cultural-religious heritage has remained. In 1991, Armenians declared independence from the USSR and established the Republic of Armenia.

Historically, Turkish rule has meant impoverishment, degradation, and the eventual destruction of all non-Muslim peoples. There is no exception to this rule: Armenians, Greeks, Assyrians, and Jews in Turkey are all on the verge of extinction. Yazidis have become nearly extinct with only a handful of Yazidi individuals left.

Meanwhile, the president of Azerbaijan now calls Armenia “western Azerbaijan”. Turkey’s president has repeatedly expressed his admiration for the Ottomans who planned the 1915 Genocide.

I've read some posts claiming the government of Armenia is about to make more concessions to Turkey and Azerbaijan regarding southern Armenia. What a fatal, devastating mistake that would be for Armenians! You cannot "normalize" your relations with unrepentant regimes that aim to wipe you out from the map. Especially if you are Armenia, surrounded by two genocidal regimes, Turkey and Azerbaijan.

@hustle_hazza Согласна, но и спорт затягивает своими игроками, их особенностями и техникой. В игре есть своя уникальная динамика. Как и уникальное звучание у артиста. Энивэй, мне кажется,что адекватность фанатов не должна влиять на отношение к артисту или виду спорта. Но это всё ещё вкусовщина
