I try to live by these philosophies:
• be part of the solution, not the problem
• do unto others as you would have them do unto you

Nearly 250 years ago the USA had a Revolution because it didn't want to live under the rule of a Dictator who cared nothing for them and only about his own personal wealth and power.
Worth thinking about.
@GreenTexanEV The only thing I’m thinking about switching is the remaining ICE cars of relatives for EVs
Been an all EV household since 2020 & haven’t looked back for one second. Not even on a 7000 mi road trip to Boston and back
@rushicrypto All while the media/elite claim that capitalism is the best possible system for realizing the maximum ingenuity/creativity/passion/productivity potential in all of us
What a (pyramid scheme) scam!
We can do better if we find a way to collectively fight for it
The most annoying thing about being human on Earth right now is the absolute waste of potential.
Brilliant minds and artists could be solving world hunger, climate change, and ending cancer, etc.
We could house, feed, clothe, and care for everyone.
But instead, we’ve decided to let a handful of asshats become billionaires, start wars, murder and imprison people, and keep the majority in poverty while ruining the climate.
It’s so stupid. The wasted ingenuity hurts to think about.

@Tekeee The situation you outlined doesn’t actually look too dire
But if you factor in needing to save for retirement (because social security has been gutted & isn’t enough to retire on), then someone in the situation you described is doomed to work until they die
$7.25/hr way too low
There’s a big difference between being anti-American, and anti-the-current-American-government
I’m very much for the ideals this country was founded on & believe most people who live here are good people
But our government went off the rails decades ago & must be stopped
@DWNLDBLCNTNT@VividVivka They used to be able to increase their profits by acquiring new customers because the global population was increasing
Now they have to squeeze all of us more & more since we’re approaching a population plateau
The pyramid scheme that is capitalism is starting to show cracks
🚨 Do you understand what Oracle just did..
they fired 30,000 people.. via 6 AM email.. while reporting a 95% increase in net income last quarter..
Oracle isn't a struggling company .. Oracle made MORE money than ever.. and still fired 30,000 people because they're spending $156 billion on AI data centres instead..
and Larry Ellison.. the guy who just fired 30,000 families.. is worth $200 billion.. the 3rd richest person on earth.. he owns an entire Hawaiian island.. Lanai.. 98% of it.. bought it for $300 million like it was a vacation home..
this is the same playbook every single time..
IBM fired 7,800 and replaced them with AI in 2023.. Amazon cut 27,000 the same year while reporting record revenue.. Atlassian cut thousands while profits climbed.. Google laid off 12,000 while sitting on $100 billion in cash..
they told you to learn to code.. you learned to code.. they told you to upskill.. you upskilled.. and then they replaced you with the thing you helped build and sent the termination letter before you woke up..
the company made record profits and decided the reward for that was firing the people who made it happen.
Your children will live at home for 18 years.
In those 18 years you'll spend roughly 42,000 hours working and commuting for someone else's company.
And about 28,000 hours with your actual children.
You will give more time to your employer than to your own kids during their entire childhood.
And by the time you've "made it" they've already left.
How is nobody angry about this?
@MMBeckerman@endless_frank The same was supposedly true of the Democratic Party after the 2024 election though. Losing to Trump a second time, especially after he was a convicted felon and had attempted an insurrection should have killed the party but it didn’t
@MMBeckerman@endless_frank Also I don’t think we want any of our current AIs running governments
If we ever manage to make one that has near-zero bias *and* isn’t going to kill us, that is probably the best form of government humans can come up with. But that’s a really big if
@MMBeckerman@endless_frank The status quo is killing millions of people per year
Revolution is indeed messy & there’s no guarantee you can make sthg better even if you win, but things are bad enough it’s time to try
We literally have pedos running our country & they’re refusing to prosecute themselves
@hashjenni Sustained protests, mass strikes, boycotts, or even full blown revolution if they don’t cave to any more peaceful approaches
We should definitely still try voting, but if no “viable” candidates are outside the existing 2 parties, that isn’t going to effect any real change
@hashjenni It should prove to you that all the checks & balances that the founding fathers tried to put in place have failed. Clearly we don’t have any (functioning) checks or balances
At this point the only way we get them is by forcing them all to quit by whatever form of pressure works
