In 2013, João Cancelo’s mother Filomena was killed in a tragic car accident. 🥺
Cancelo, who was 18 years old, and his younger brother, who was only 8, survived the crash.
“It was a matter of milliseconds that changed my life forever,” he told Alta Definição.
“I remember some things. I remember my mother’s final scream. I remember my brother crying — he was still just a child, 8 years old.”
“I tried to lift the car to get my mother out from underneath it, but I couldn’t. I just couldn’t.”
“Everything was so dark. We were off the highway, down an embankment. I tried with all my strength to lift the car, but it was impossible. Lifting a car is simply impossible.”
Sending love and strength to you, João ❤️🙏
