I write about technology, Bitcoin, trust, and responsibility.
Not as trends—
but as systems shaping how we live.

Core idea:
We don’t eliminate trust.
We move it.
Held • Shared • Promised.
Coldcard is where the real lesson lives, not the fork.
A covenant isn’t about limiting what Bitcoin can become at the protocol level — it’s about limiting what your Bitcoin can do at the wallet level. One valid destination: your estate protocol, your trust, your family. A compromised signer stops being a catastrophe and becomes an inconvenience. The attacker gets a signature. They don’t get a destination.
~$200M didn’t have to be lost. It had to be moved somewhere it was never going to be allowed to go.
No soft fork required to start down this road. That matters more than it sounds like it should.

Sound money turns out to be the easy part in Honest Weights. Staying human is the real test.
That’s the basic idea behind the story — a family and a church, walking through an economic crisis.
pre-RDTS Knots is consensus-identical to Core. It doesn’t enforce BIP-110, so it validates the exact same chain everyone else does. That matters practically, because even in the worst case where Dashjr walked away entirely, my pre-RDTS node wouldn’t fork off into isolation, it’d just gradually go stale on updates while still tracking the real chain.
We will see.
For now I am sticking with knots as I agree with the original principles. Hopefully others will pick it up pre-RDTS Knots is consensus-identical to Core. @JoelBomgar@Bitkey Well under 1,000 followers so I know I’m not in scope for this, but the Bitkey custody angle is worth sharing regardless. I write about multisig, coercion resistance, and custody diversity here: https://t.co/kc2E2kcWrj
Lessons learned thanks to the bip-110 fiasco.

I still think knots, https://t.co/zFGrSay3MQ are worthy decentralization efforts I’d love to see more get behind. This experience just makes that all the more important.
I agree it is sad to see such great people go. Hope to welcome them all back someday in the near future.

Hill sentencing as a bellwether for how far “unlicensed money transmitter” liability could stretch to open-source and non-custodial developers generally?
•Where’s the line, in her view, between writing code and “operating a business” — and does she think that line is even coherent anymore post-Samourai?
I said yes to Fort Worth before I knew why — then wrote my way into the reason. That became 108 essays I never planned to write.
This week: guest #79 on @ThankGodForBTC with @jordanbush, and my novel Honest Weights is nearly done.
None of it required a plan. Just showing up
