As a techno-optimist, I believe technology and health can go hand in hand, rather than working against each other.

This isn’t to ignore the facts, such as the negative impact social media can have on mental health. However, there are numerous ways we can use technology to take care of ourselves.

Consider running apps or smartphones with features like timers that encourage us to go offline at designated times. Or take one of my favorite examples—meditation apps, which help users disconnect from the information overload of the outside world. Research consistently shows that meditation has a proven positive effect on mental health and emotional regulation. Thanks to technology, this powerful tool is now accessible to millions who might not otherwise have had the opportunity to benefit from it.

As leaders in the tech industry, we must recognize the importance of self-care and well-being. The solution isn’t to reject technology but to use it to our advantage—to help us disconnect when needed and reconnect with our minds and bodies, which is a crucial aspect of living a balanced life.
