#Deescalation#CommunityCare
There was an arrest being made across the street from our free food market today so we went to observe. It was a young person, Spanish speaking and in clear distress (not in any aggressive way).

Police do not keep us safe.
I repeat: Police do not keep us safe.
That goes double for anyone not percieved as white & "acceptable to society".
I will not further put someone at risk by contacting police.
So low-income students don't have freedom to choose what they learn? To decide their own career paths? Targeting financial aid to specific "high demand" programs" (after gutting universities) is not how you build a strong post-secondary #education sector. #abpse#cdnpse
