What a delight it is to see the @scipalliance community in action! The North West Hub includes schools, colleges, universities, local authorities, charities, and military personnel, veterans and families… across education, health, youth, wellbeing and other boundaries. Great!
And we owe huge thanks to many funders (@DefenceHQ, @AnningtonHomes, @CovenantTrust, @ArmedForcesEduc, @WellingtonUK), but @NavalChildren get a special mention in the report as we launched a new bank of case studies this year thanks to their generous support. Thank you all.
So many reasons to be thankful. The @scipalliance is its community, so I’m delighted to see a taste of our work together highlighted in this year’s Armed Forces Covenant report.
Pleased that our generous and long-standing hosts (the @_UoW) get a mention, too. When Service children dropped out of HE access policy in England, they funded work to fill the research gap and see them added to the @officestudents Equality of Opportunity Risk Register.
The workshop range and options this year will be our best yet. And we want to match that diversity in the community coming together to share practice and make impact through this event: the only UK-wide, whole-sector conference focused solely on Service children. See you there!
5/5 You will know that the impact on family is a long-standing challenge to recruitment, operational effectiveness, retention and a good transition to civilian life. We are here to help. I look forward to meeting. Feel free to get in touch.
1/5 Congratulations on your appointment as Defence Secretary, @JohnHealey_MP. I look forward to working with you to support children and young people in serving and ex-Armed Forces.
4/5 The @scipalliance works with @DefenceHQ and research, policy, practice and funder allies throughout our UK-wide community to remove disadvantage and support thriving lives for Service children - our vision.
What a delight to catch up with long-standing allies @UCLan today! Thank you to Professor Graham Baldwin for the warm welcome and your unstinting support for Service children, not least through the work of Dr Becky Steele and partners in the North West @scipalliance Hub.
Thank you to @AWMurrison for your continued support for the @scipalliance community, and to all the allies that make our collective efforts meaningful in the daily lives of children and young people from Armed Forces families.
On my way to the launch of the @scipalliance South East Hub, kindly hosted by @KMPFederation. A great opportunity to reflect again on an interesting conversation with @FiMT_RC. I am equally proud of where we have got to as I am excited about what is ahead!
It is the #MonthOfTheMilitaryChild and we have released a new Meet the Expert article featuring Philip Dent (@_phildent), Director of the Service Children's Progression Alliance (@scipalliance). Read our interview with Philip at https://t.co/UKL1vekD3K.
And thanks for all you continue to do for the @scipalliance community and thousands of Service children who will never meet you - and lots who will, of course!
And what a pleasure it was! The combination of quick-fire specialist inputs (including ACTUAL Armed Forces parents with first-hand experience with the works of SEND) and purposeful, solutions/focused discussion was great. Well done @PoppyLegion!
Huge thanks to our panellists. We’ll be exploring how to respond to the unique, personal and changing identities of Service children in national and local policy, organisational practice, and research. Can’t wait!
Huge thanks to @AWMurrison for making time to share @DefenceHQ insights on the thing we at the @scipalliance care about most: helping those who help Service children.
