I recall the first time my team and I closed a BIG $ client.
It was basically a leap of faith. Should have asked for more 😂
Funny part - had no clue on this project, just knew we’d find a way.
Best part - Delivered so much value, it left a scar - "better and worthy."

If you want to become a great copywriter...
Pretend you're studying to become a great lawyer.
Learn how to...
✅ Think with laser-like logic
✅ Persuasively argue a case
✅ Provide and dramatize irrefutable proof
✅ Use story and emotion to sway opinion
And... learn to come up with memorable phrases that sum up an argument.
Like Johnny Cochran's defense of O.J. Simpson when the defense failed to prove that a glove found at the murder scene was O.J.'s: "If the glove doesn't fit, you must acquit!"
Or the phrase George Parnham kept driving home as he defended Clara Harris on the charge of murdering her husband: "It was a tragedy, but not a murder."
And how Gerry Spence summed up his defense of Imelda Marcos against charges of misusing money from the Philippine treasury to fund her lavish lifestyle: "Some wives spend too much. Some husbands spend too much. That doesn't make them criminals."
Where does one learn such things? Three years of law school?
No! Just pick up some of these books:
Tools of Argument: How the Best Lawyers Think, Argue and Win, by Joel Trachtman
How to Argue and Win Every Time by Gerry Spence
The Winning Brief by Bryan Garner (thanks to @GarfinkelCoach)
Facts Can't Speak for Themselves by Eric Oliver
Ever wonder why legends became legends?
Built empires, sparked revolutions, & shaped history.
Pen or swords?
Never! Never!! underestimate the power of words!
The greatest achieved their status because 'it was written.'
Big respect to all the writers out there!
Copywriters decoding a typeface:
"Is that a hint of... Arial or just a bold attempt at Helvetica humor?"
Seriously, Fonts can't hide from the trained eye (and nose) of a copywriter:
"This website smells like Calibri and bad decisions."
