The idea of rights exists only in the imagination of men. What exists are responsibilities.

Nature is all about responsibilities.

We have a responsibility to defend our life, liberty, and property. We have a responsibility to defend our common interests. We have a responsibility to defend those who are on our side, our team. That is, those who benefit from our success and whose success benefits us. Those whose incentives are mutually aligned with ours.

As soon as you switch from a rights-based philosophy to a responsibility-based philosophy, the whole world becomes infinitely easier to understand.

Now read it this way: every person has a responsibility to defend their life, liberty, and property.

What does that mean for those who refuse to participate in their responsibilities, who refuse to discharge them, or who are incapable?

It means they must either demand the free support of those who are willing to fulfill those responsibilities, which is what a rights-based system always creates, or they must negotiate with those individuals by giving up some of their property to those who would protect them, which is how we get governments.

In a system based on responsibilities, only those who are willing and able to discharge their responsibilities have a say in government, in how society is organized, and in how common resources are managed.

But in a rights-based society, everyone is said to possess these magical rights, and therefore everyone gets a say in everything, despite their refusal to accept responsibility or their lack of competence.

Today we are seeing the results of our rights-based system as it decays and eventually collapses.

We have a choice. We can replace it with the old "might makes right" system, or we can replace it with the "responsibility makes right" system that I am proposing.

In any case, the old rights-based system, and all the institutions built upon it, are dying. They will not outlast the next generation.

Civilization is growing and we’ve passed the point of no return. We now see dysfunction we ignored just a few years ago. We’re in a maturity crisis. Those of us stepping up, taking responsibility, seeing the victim mindset, seeing the manipulation, and actually caring, get attacked first.
This is our new normal. Leading the naive like a father or a mother would. I don’t want normal back. I want a sovereignty I’ve never known before.
