@Google and @Amazon tech is powering the genocidal violence in Gaza. Rise up in solidarity with Palestinians— demand tech execs @ajassy@sundarpichai drop their contracts with Israel now. #NoTechForApartheid https://t.co/dHwJUznyQ5
Good afternoon (or morning, or evening). I went dark yesterday, really dark. But I managed to sleep and I have some clarity about the Al Ahli hospital massacre that I want to share with you. I'll only tweet this rambling thread today and then log off. Please read and share.
For decades, Palestinians demanded that the world acknowledge the Nakba – the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from their homeland in 1948 to create a European Jewish ethno-supremacist state in their place.
They were ignored, ridiculed or accused of hating Jews. Now we see the result.
Unless we learn from history we are condemned to endlessly repeat it.
Which is why most Westerners will keep quiet as Palestinians are murdered and driven from their homes once again – because we have been trained by our leaders and media to assume that speaking up in support of freedom and dignity for all equates to antisemitism.
This is Sam Altman's sister. Her tweets about sexual, physical, emotional, etc. abuse are incredibly hard to read. Seems that no one in the media is that interested in covering this story because they're afraid of losing access to OpenAI if they write something critical of Sam.👇
I am in no way exaggerating when I say that if Hayao Miyazaki said this to me about AI I’d quit my job and burn the office building to the ground in hopes of forgiveness
This article in Rolling Stone is a hell of a read.
“I saw who was building the AI systems and their points of view. I saw what they were being used for, and I was like, ‘Oh, my God, we have a problem.’ ”

In January, an old racist email written by Bostrom was made public. Bostrom's apology was arguably more atrocious. Defenders screamed that he'd be cancelled, but I calmly reassured them: "No, I PROMISE you he will not be cancelled. Please TRUST me." Well?

We're in a universe where Timothée Chalamet was never born
People roam the streets
squinting
hungry for answers
answers to questions nobody remembers asking
Fog
A peach sinks into a pool of black oil
The ashes of a forest fire
An empty perfume bottle
A single word

To all those folks asking why the "AI safety" and "AI ethics" crowd can't find common ground --- it's simple: The "AI safety" angle, which takes "AI" as something that is to be "raised" to be "aligned" with actual people is anathema to ethical development of the technology.

Levi's will be using Ai POC models. Way to fake diversity & inclusivity by brown facing Ai, and completely removing ACTUAL people of color. @LEVIS
Actual POC's have been warning about this, but all of you 'democratization' folks couldn't give a shit.
