Woah, “Iranian girls left for school and did not return home” - but why? What happened? Did they just run away? Were they abducted by aliens? Are they alive or dead? Who harmed them?
And “the parents in Gaza buried their children beneath the rubble of their classrooms”?! Wth! Why? Were they buried alive?! And if they were dead, who killed them? The parents?
Strange, because when it comes to Afghan girls you are so clear about who their enemy is. It’s so easy for you to point to the Taliban as villains in the stories of these girls, but who’s the enemy, who are the villains in the just as important stories of these Iranian and Palestinian girls?
The “hard truth” is actually this: you know very well that US-Israeli strikes killed these 168 Iranian girls in their school.
And that Israel has murdered hundreds of thousands of Palestinian children.
But you can’t even name, let alone villainise the US - your paymaster, and Israel - it’s arm in the “ME”.
Besides, you literally manufactured consent for these strikes with your “free Iranian girls” propaganda tweets.
So this was just a job well-done and well-paid, as far as you’re concerned.
But now you are being forced to say something because of your undeserved role as some global ambassador for women and girls.
People, I’m telling you, this woman becomes more and more irrelevant as a peace ambassador and more and more complicit in imperialist war crimes with each passing day. Please stop falling for this shit.
I joke around sometimes with my husband that in my next life I want to come back as a dad.
But night time rolls around, the house settles, and I don’t mean it, not even a little
If I had a thousand lives to choose from, I would choose to be a mother in every single one
I would choose the cost. I’d sacrifice my body, myself, all of me for the blessing that is being someone’s mom.
My body is so much different, I’ve lost half my hair, my skin is stretched, my patience runs thin most days, I look different, I am so different
Different because I was able to carry in me the people I love the most in the world, I got to feel their very first kicks. I got to hold two heartbeats inside my own. I got to shelter them in warmth, grow them in silence, and be the first arms to hold them, inside and outside the womb.
What a terrible tragedy it would be to ever wish this away or wish it differently
One day I’ll be an old lady walking down the store isle looking at another young mom with a cart full of children; and I won’t wish for another life to be someone else, or something else, I’ll wish instead to come back and live my own life all over again…
Also, this is so academically disingenuous for 2 main reasons:
1. The term “child” is used but not defined. Islam does not allow for any marriage that’s involves consummation until the parties have become physically mature (i.e hut puberty and can have sex) so anyone younger than this stage is out of the question. Also the term marriage was not defined, there is the marital contract and the consummation of marriage. A marital contract can be done before puberty (i.e a girl can be promised to someone) and she can choose to follow through or leave before consummation when she is mature. BUT consummation can not take place unless she is mature (No harm will be caused).
2. The Prophet SAW said “do not harm yourself or others” this is a general principle in Islam and applies to marriage. It can not be forced, harmful, or before the parties are ready, as per the custom and traditions of the time. Simply stated, if people are generally ready for marriage around a certain age, that become the age of maturity in that community.
3. Many historical societies INCLUDING CHRISTIAN SOCIETIES practiced marrying off girls once they hit puberty. Between the ages of 9-14 depending on the location and time. This is a fact, so don’t pretend this is a Muslim thing and not a historical thing. And do not try to remove Christian’s and the Bible from the realm of people who allowed it/ practiced it. The age of consent laws were codified for a major time in Victorian era England (Christian society) because white Christian men were using 12 year old girls as prostitutes, not because Muslims were marrying when girls hit puberty lol.
So yes you are contrasting Islam with modern secular values and tradition. Which is both subjective and relative to our circumstances.
This is nothing more than a petty and pathetic attack at Islam, it’s baseless, and oft-repeated argument.
Americans in 2025 love to imagine themselves on the right side of history. They tell themselves that if they’d lived during Jim Crow, they would’ve marched with the civil rights movement; that if they’d been Germans during WWII, they would’ve opposed Nazism; and that if they’d lived during the transatlantic slave trade, they would’ve fought for abolition.
But they live now, in 2025, two years into an ongoing, broadcasted genocide, and what most manage to offer as “pro-Palestinians” is little more than carefully hedged statements, moral ambiguity, and the comfort of “both sides.”
If you call people breaking out of a concentration camp a “war crime,” then you don’t get to pretend you would’ve marched with Malcolm or stood with Martin. You don’t get to pretend you would’ve supported the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, or that you would’ve had the moral clarity to understand John Brown or the courage to speak honestly about Nat Turner’s Rebellion.
What you would’ve been then is what you are now: timid, complicit, and paralyzed by fear of social disapproval, all while dressing it up as nuance, objectivity, or pragmatism.
is there a competition among Muslim candidates for who can share the shittiest statement in support of genocide apologia today. my guy here begins history on Oct 7.
I made a comment on Real Time with Bill Maher about the war in Gaza that was insensitive and hurtful. I apologize.
The suffering of the people of Gaza — especially the children — is not a punch line. I’m deeply sorry it came across that way. What’s happening to children in Gaza is heartbreaking. As a father, I can’t begin to imagine the pain their parents are enduring, unable to protect their kids from unimaginable harm.
I’m praying and working for an immediate end to this war — and for peace and safety for every family caught in its path. I’m truly sorry for the pain my words caused to people who are already suffering more than anyone should.
There is a reason why He put you in this position as a mother. So, just do your best. Children are an amanah from Allah ﷻ. So, when we take care of our children, we are fulfilling our duty to Him ﷻ.
