@phxlogan what's funny is that he has rec'd major raises by Hazen over the past 3 years. $2.25M for '26 .. really Hazen?? we can't get enough of this guy.
i don't understand why we switch players in and out of the starting line-up so much .. both at 1B, LF, CF, and DH. yes, there have been injuries, but this is well beyond that .. players in these positions are not settling in and getting consistent reps (ABs). zero managerial confidence displayed in both the players and the coaching staff.
Father Jahn (German) invented most of what gymnastics is (1800s). His Turnen system was originally a means to transform boys to men and women were excluded for many many years.. but the movement eventually expanded well beyond its original intent. Father Jahn was a very interesting person.
@jozefkrichards@GinaO84463083@ThatEngineer3N6@jimmy_dore border jumpers which are in the millions are refugees and they don't tend to have sponsors .. these immigrants make up the vast majority of new peoples in our cities and it's not even close.
refugees and asylum seekers (which overwhelmingly is what our immigrants are nowadays) are absolutely eligible for SNAP and receive it.
they also get :
initial settlement support (includes furnished accommodations)
Refugee Cash Assistance
Regugee Medical Assistance
.. not to mention many don't carry minimum auto-insurance and aren't prosecuted when they get in accidents. when the gov't looks the other way when they commit crimes, they are incentivized to do fraudulant and other unlawful activies .. that's not something that was afforded to immigrants from 100 years ago.
they don't need medicaid .. they can just walk into any urgent care or emergency room and just not pay (ever been in an emergency room in a major city in the last 10 years?? total nightmare)
@IGraceAshford the opposite end of this spectrum is "why pay taxes if the government prints trillions of new dollars per year?"
see Bukele's speech to CPAC in Feb'24 .. it's very revealing.
sorry - the solution isn't going to happen, so the only thing worth pondering : how do I live righteously regardless of the misery and dis-order? and how can I suffer it graciously?
this is a framing issue that lots of Protestants are susceptible to, i.e. there are things that either can't/won't/shouldn't be fixed .. but properly suffered through. the dross shouldn't pine away for the day the extreme heat & pressure are vanquished from the forge.. it should appreciate the divine wisdom of it all.
I concur. I was watching every game until this TB series, they're making me dis-interested. Afterall, this is an investment of my time, and my time is frankly better placed elsewhere (even if it is my 'freetime').
It's not that they lose, it's how the losses come about: management decisions that seem counter to urgency (to say the least), lack of player effort (ex-rookies), and the general negative experience at the park (which isn't the team's fault per se, but it's part of the equation).
for the players, I suspect something is going on in the clubhouse. something is permeating into the player's psyche that is causing them not to be hungry. there's nothing really to say about Lovullo/Hazen - they need to go.
