We have a new paper out on palindrome day➿: Stimulation of distinct parietal locations differentiates frontal versus hippocampal network involvement in memory formation (with @Vosstacular@NUMesulamCenter@vanhaerents@bbonakda) https://t.co/AnNGukAPPK
We saw:
1. anterior and posterior parietal cortex, thought to associate with distinct memory subnetworks, do in fact distinctly contribute to memory formation
2. TMS applied to nearby regions (~32mm apart) can have dissociable effects -- TMS has pretty solid spatial resolution!

Pre-pandemic, we found theta-frequency TMS selectively enhanced memory in young adults. This vaxxed summer, we looked at whether that remained the case in older adults and found some neat similarities and differences - find out more at #SfN2021 poster P897.07 today at noon PST!
Excited to have this out! Memory and language networks interface with the same region of the lateral cerebellum. We wanted to see if we could use noninvasive brain stimulation to bias cerebellar contributions to memory or language function. And we could!
We found evidence of de-differentiation in the older adults, as theta-burst TMS had a more widespread, distributed effect on hippocampal connectivity in the older adults. In contrast, theta-burst TMS in the young adults had more hippocampal network-specific effects. (FIG 4)
New paper w/@Vosstacular@_shrutidave@StephWert@vanhaerents & @NUMesulamCenter folks out in Neurobiology of Aging https://t.co/kbOqhffRbx
We compared effects of TMS targeting the hippocampal network on fMRI connectivity and item-location memory in young vs. older adults.
I am very excited to share my final study of my dissertation which just got published! 2 year-olds learned new words and then listened to these words while sleeping in the MRI. Learned words showed hippocampal activation! https://t.co/CmMQNnbpSS
Hello! I'm presenting this work during #SNL2021 slide slam session Q today at noon PST (i.e., in about 2 hours). Come join and ask questions, read the article, or check out my video recording here (anytime for the rest of 2021!): https://t.co/0T7FQY0P31
Excited to share new work out with Brothers, @LivHoversten, Traxler, @SwaabTamara! We find ERP evidence that semantic prediction and domain-general processing are supported by separable mechanisms - in both young and older adults. 🧠
@saluthra @LivHoversten @SwaabTamara Ha, it definitely shows we're using context cues well (and that I shouldn't type directly into the notification pop-up)

@saluthra @LivHoversten @SwaabTamara Thank you so much, that's so nice of you to say! Let me know if you have any questions! Hou're well as well, and congrats on the dissertation award talk!
